I have DirecTV with TIVO and I just hooked up my Sony DAV C700 surround sound system. Everything works great. My question is, is there any way to wire it so that when we are watching TV we can get sound from my Sony DAV C700 unit also? Right now, I only get the surround sound when I am playing a DVD in my C700. When we are watching TV ( a Sony Wega), we just get sound from the TV speakers, and I am hoping that there is a way to wire it so that we can watch TV and also take advantage of my new surround sound speakers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance. Yes, i do have the same problem. Best Buy installed my new surround sound with dvd player and tv. At that time i was able to get the surround sound to play with my tv and with the dvd player. Since i've moved and had to disconnect everything i will have to connect it by myself. i am so confused. too many wires and didn't mark where they supposed to go. lost in electronics setup. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
It looks like all you'll need to do is hook up audio out from DirecTV to audio in on the surround sound system. Sony has an interesting hookup recommendation guide on the product support site:
That should give you the connection options. The short answer, though, is to connect the best audio out from DirecTV to an audio in on the surround sound and then choose that option in the surround sound system when you want to watch TV.
