SOURCE: I have lost the disk

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

Tip

The most important ever tip about a new digital camera or camcorder

Do NOT throw away any of the contents of the box. <br /><br />That's it- the most important tip for your new camera.<br /><br />In Fixya, a large proportion of the questions we see start out- "I lost the CD that came with my camera. How do I download pictures to my computer?"<br /><br />Another popular category is- "I lost my manual- how do I do this that or another common camera task?"<br /><br />Occasionally we see- "I lost my charger. How do I charge my camera?"<br /><br />Really? You "lost" it?<br /><br />A digital camera is almost useless if you can't get the pictures onto a computer to show or print them. A camcorder almost as much so, though some can play back through a TV (if you haven't lost the cable).<br /><br />Sometimes you can download a copy of the manual, and/or some of the software, for some cameras, but not all. Some makes simply don't have a website offering such downloads. Others may only offer software updates, but not the main drivers/applications that came on the CD, or there may be conditions. If you want to download drivers for a Sony camcorder, for instance, you may be asked for the code that was printed on your original CD. Otherwise you may have to PURCHASE a replacement!<br /><br />Avoid all this hassle- just keep the stuff safe. <br /><br /><br />

I have a camera card in the camera with pictures on it, and it seems those picturs are lost. The only pictures I can view are the 9 pictures that are in the camera memory. How can I retrieve the picturs on...

I recovered lost photos with steps below
1. Take out the memory card from camera and connect the memory card to computer with a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
2. Download camera photo recovery software, recommended asoftech photo recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)

3. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your deleted photos.

Lost software

Hello
Windows can handle downloading from a digital camera without necessarily loading the software for the camera. Just follow these steps.

1. Connect your camera thru a USB cord to the computer and switch the camera on. The computer should be able to identify it. Some digital cameras get recognized if they are on play/edit mode rather than on taking picture position.

2. Follow the screen instructions to download the pictures to your computer.

3. If nothing happens with 1 & 2 above then go to START and MY Computer and double click that icon.

4. A screen showing all drives connected to your computer will appear including D or E whatever the case maybe where your camera is connected identifying your camera by name.

5. Double click the icon with your camera connection and the software will start reading the contents of your camera and then you follow instructions on the screen.

6. The pictures on your camera will then be displayed on the window and then you can mark all or some of them for downloading to the computer.

I hope this solves your problems, if not please advise accordingly
