Fax wont work

This is a new replacement machine from HP ...I have never faxed frm this machine. When I put multiple papers in the feed one passes all the way thru and the second gets jammed. Is there some sort of shipping stuff that I forgot to remove because I cant find it.

The rollers on the feeder can go bad and the best way to solve it is to get a new complete assembly. Check the website under your make and model for the assembly. YOu might also want to check for paper jam

When I fax it says phone off hook. I get a message stating no answer.

Try dialing the FAX-number with your cell-phone.
Do you hear the "ring", or does the telephone-company give you a "busy" signal ?

Some FAX machines are "busy" -- receiving many FAXES from multiple customers -- reprogram your FAX machine to "retry" a few times.

Or, when a receiving FAX runs out of paper, it sometimes refuses to accept "new" faxes.

Front loading page grab problems.

See that top on which to place paper faxing is a green button should be positioned (to the right or left) in position with several sheets drawn as an indicator. I guess yours is positioned on a single paper which means it does not separate anything you ask.
Good luck to configuration

Top feeder not feeding paper through

I have had this problem before and found that certain types of papers cause this. Can you try some different paper you may have lying around and try that? Post back with the results.

Need to know abt fax

HP.com has a web page that talks about the different ways you can send a fax from this product:

Faxing Overview

In general, the fax machine in the all-in-one product doesn't need a computer to work. It works just like a stand alone fax machine. You shouldn't have to scan anything in from the scanner in order to fax. Just put the sheet of paper you want to fax into the product's feeder and follow the fax instructions (see the link I posted above).

As long as the product has electric power and is connected to a phone jack, it should work out OK.

As far as legal papers, if you mean legal sized papers, it should work as long as the product supports the paper size you want to use. You can get that on the product specifications web page at HP.

Product Specifications

Once that page opens, go to the Faxing specifications and Paper specifications sections for the relevant details. Good luck.

Sounds like the feed rollers need to be cleaned or replaced.

Look where you put the paper in. See if you can see inside there and see the roller that turns and picks up the paper. If you can, make a mixture of alcohol and a little dish soap. Damp a rag with it, and reach in there to clean the rollers.  See if the rollers will turn manually, but be careful not to force anything.  Another way to get to the whole roller, would be to start making a print, while watching the rollers.  As soon as the rollers have turned half way, unplug the printer.  Now you can reach the other side and clean that.

There is another way to clean the rollers.  Using the alcohol mix, take a single sheet of paper, and damp one half of it with the solution.  Stick the single sheet in the paper tray, and make a print, but hold on to the paper so that it doesn't feed through the machine.  Do this several times, and the rollers turning against the wet paper should clean them.

Try to print again. It might take a few tries. The rollers have to turn against the paper and dry themselves off again.

If this works, then you need new rollers (cleaning them will only make them work temporarily and the problem will come more frequently until you change them).

Thankyou,
