please help me one drum shock has broken on my FWT867GHSD I wish to replace it myself what do i do.

My washer was still washing and spinning, but it was making a loud banging sound and bouncing out of it's spot. I took off the top, and the back panel and discovered that BOTH shocks are broken! I plan to search out local appliance stores, appliance maintanance places to find the parts myself. If I have the proper tools, I may be able to replace it, it looks simple (not easy) to do. If I can't do that, I have a friend who is willing to come with his tools. If he can't do it, I will pay an appliance repairman to do it. But I plan to do whatever I can do to fix it myself. I'm just not sure yet where to look for the shocks in my area.

My used washer makes a bang win it goes to wash after the soak cycle. It looks like it is missing springs in the bottom lower front between the motor basket and chassis. Is this suppose to have springs ?

washing machine normally have 2-3 springs on top of the drum and 2-3 shock absorbers supporting the drum from underneath, check one of the shock absorbers has not become detached from the drum or cabinet.

How do you tell if the suspension springs are bad

with washing machines you have suspension springs at the top of the drum and shock absorbers on the bottom, the easiest way to check shocks is to see if they have leaked any fluid and if they offer any resistance, if they are leaking and offer no resistance to compression then they will need replacing

The drum on my front load washer hits the side of the machine, cause it to move. I've opened up the machine to look at the shock absorbers and springs. Springs look fine and so do the shock absorbers,...

The shocks should be firm and the tension on the springs. if there is any adjustment nut or likewise i would look into that. if not then the shocks are worn and have failed. Replace them.

Drum suspension failure

The suspension spring of the drum has come off and this means that the drum is hanging off the center.
The drum is hung with spring and shock absorbers and if one side has come off it will be off balanced. The springs are hung from the corners of the BODY FRAME. Check this out, replace spring if the end had broken or also you can use a good plier to extend the spring head to be clipped.( if broken)

Seems load is out of balance

Your washing drum is spring balanced and your
motor has rubber shocks to keep it balanced so check
both for damage. _( cracks in rubber shocks and breaks in
washing drum spring or springs ) Also springs or rubber
shocks are no longer fastened to motor or chassis.

Loud clanking noise during spin cycle. Will not

If it is a front loader, then remove the rear panel, remove the belt, and soin drum by hand, if it feels rough, or is noisy and rumbling, then the main drum bearings have failed.
This is a major repair.

yes it will remove there is a spring clip that holds it to the front panel. then it is usually easier to remove the counter weights to reinstall the boot.

Excessive noise

I had the same problem. Two things were bad. One was the shock absorber and must be changed out as a pair. Also one of the springs that supports the tub was broken. My guess is that the spring broke and the shock failed shortly after. since it was more easily accessible and appeared to be the problem, I replaced the broken shock. Only to find the spring was broken too. After replacing the spring, its worked fine for a couple of years. Obviously I'm looking at this site because I'm having another problem, but this time I think it is the tub bearing.

Machine failing to spin correctly and drum wobbling everywhere

Open up behind, check to see if any spring/springs have come off. Check to see if one or more of the shock absorbers loose or faulty. The shock absorbers can be removed to be examined (note how they are fitted before attempting to remove) Faulty shocks shd be replaced. Wet clothes. Probably your exit is blocked with previous muck, check. Open out to clean well.
