I recently bought a slightly used 1200s from a friend. It was working fine
on his PC. When I set it up on mine, the B&W scans are Ok, but there is a
problem with the color scans. They all have thin cord-like vertical lines
through them. It is if the whole picture was painted on thin cords pressed
together. I tried different resolutions, and different descreen settings.
I removed the Umax UDS11 card and plugged the scanner into my main SCSI
card, PEL1600 (an Adaptec 1510 clone). I tried 3 different versions of
VistaScan and switching SCSI ID's. Nothing helps. I could not find any
info on this on Umax's web site. I vaguely remember reading of something
similar that was traceable to a SCSI problem. I have 1 other SCSI device on
the PEL 1600 and I am using passive terminators on both ends. Has anyone
encounteed this problem before? Thanks in advance!

newspaper, magazine, etc) or electronic noise. If it's noise, try
moving the scanner from it's present location, if that doesn't work
perhaps you need a filter to clean up your power.

might be dirt on the scanners calibration window (if tranny adapter) or
target (without tranny adapter). See umax's uk site for info on opening and
cleaning.
