Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Unbalanced Light I just inherited a Speed Queen that worked perfectly before transport. I made sure not to jostle it around too much and I didn't lay it on its side but now that I have connected it, it doesn't work. As soon as I plug it in the unbalanced load light comes on and there is no way to start it. How can I fix it?

I actually did some additional investigation and found that the arm bracket had just slipped of the lid switch causing the the circuit to be left open. I just got a screw driver and moved the arm back in lace and it works like a charm. Thanks a ton!

The lid switch needs to be reset. You may have bent the switch arm bracket while transporting it.

You will need to find the Speed Queen model number then go to repairclinic.com or partselect.com and look for repair parts.

Transporting a Kenmore front load washer and gas dryer

Yes you can lay them down. Some modals call for 24 hour reaping time before you can plugin to run. Reaping meaning some modal have the new R134A coolant in them so if they lay down wait 24 hours before use. Gas you can just lay then down and brace it so it can't move around.

Speed queen dances all over. Top I loader

Your load is unbalanced. Resitribute the wet clothes more evenly. If its a new installation, did you remember to remove the shipping locks from the back of the unit before using it?

My speed queen wash properly it drain properly but when it come to spin it go very very slow and it make like jurking movements

Some times the clothing will be piled up mostly at one side of the drum after the completion of the washing/draining cycle. This is normal. When the drum starts spinning/rotating to dry the clothing it is unbalanced and the drum will then not reach high speed due its banging against the outer casing which will also cause the jurking movement. Rearrange the clothing inside the drum by spreading it evenly around the agitator. If this does not solve the problem the machine might be seriously overloaded ( too much clothing). Take some clothing out and see if its is better. If it still persist then open up the front panel by unscrewing the three screws at the bottom of the panel and lifting the panel up and out. Please disconnect the electrical power supply first. Look inside the machine for the van belt between the electric motor and the big pulley underneath the drum. Check the condition of this belt as it might need to be replaced. ( badly worn over all, inner rubber area cracked badly, rough sides ect). TAKE NOTE: Replace with genuine Speed Queen part as a normal vehicle v-belt will not work. Pressing against the belt will be a small pulley attached to a swing arm under tension of a spring. Slight shortening of the spring might help but only as last resort.

Have you checked the receptacle? Plug a light or something into the receptacle to see if it works.

My washer says it has an unbalanced load while washing even if i run it with no clothes in the washer

you have a cracked motor housing. Lay machine on its back. remove centre motor bolt with allen wrench. pull off rotor. remove four bolts holding windings. unplug wires and speed sensor. inspect plastic housing with wires around it. you will see cracks in the plastic. there's your problem

Unbalanced Load Light

I don't know if this is a new washing machine or not, but I would recommend is getting a few small thin boards and making sure the machine is level. If this doesn't work there could be a bad sensor, but that doesn't seem like the case to me as moving the machine a little gets it to restart.

Click on Speed Queen above in blue...............front loaders would be nice. But ask the dealer where the filter is, what the codes mean, etc. These are all supposed to be secret - so their techs can come around to make more money..... No jokes its real.

28+ year old- Speed Queen Heavy Duty top loader

It sound like you drain hose is siphoning off the rinse water, It needs a standpipe make sure the drain hose is at about the height of the top of the washer, Make sure the drain hose isnt stuck in the drain it also needs an air cap. the drain hose should not lay on the floor to run to the drain

Please let me know if this doesnt solve your problems
