Sata devices do not work like IDE, they do not have master/slave. If you want to set it to bootable, you have to go through the bios. On most computers, press DEL while it is booting, then go to "standard cmos features", search around a bit until you find where to set the bootable device list, and set the 400gb to the first.

You need to perform a quick check of the following steps for us to understand the exact status of your SMPS(power supply) and Motherboard

1) Open the CPU and check whether the green light is glowing on the motherboard when power is given to SMPS.

2) Please make sure that the HDD IDE/SATA and power cables are plugged in properly on both ends.Use common sense to check, do not press very hard as the slots are sensitive.

3) Make sure that all the CD/DVD drives are on IDE 2 or on SATA
4) Make sure that the Jumper setting on the back of the HDD is set to MASTER. NA for SATA.

5) Remove any VGA/Graphics card that you have installed. Also remove any PCI cards that you have installed.

6)Connect the monitors VGS cable to the Blue 15 pin female VGA out port of the motherboard.

7) If possible login to bios and make see if you can find the HDD from the drives menu. From Boot menu select the NATIVE mode that will activate both the SATA and the IDE channels.

Note: If you feel that, my answers have helped you getting solution to your problems then please give a vote for the "best answer".

Thanks.

it seems as they are conflicting this u usually caused by jumper settings you need to download the utility program from the hdd manufacture the utility allows you to change hdd priority you need to change the settings on the second hdd to slave and the first hdd to master but like i said unlike ide which has jumpers sata has digital jumpers the utility from products website is needed for this

My computer shows to setup array and does not detect one hard disk

Please try to system reformat/reinstall OS to your HDD under SATA connection. then kindly check the jumper setting of HDD under IDE connection which I suggest to place it at Master while the SATA HDD will be automatically recognized as Slave by your computer. best regards

BIOS doesn't find SATA HDD

Hi fallacy,

If you have the system disks and you can boot from CD, I would just follow the prompts to reload the operating system. If the computer cannot see the CD or HardDrive you need to reset the BIOS setting to factory default settings and that should restore the drives to be used. Note: Hard Drive should be Primary Master and CD-Rom, (not DVD-Rom if you have one) should be Secondary Master. If you have a DVD Rom drive I recommend unplugging both power and data cords from it and making sure the CD-ROM is set to Secondary Master, NOT Secondary Slave.

This should allow you to boot to a CD and reload the operating system. Unfortunately your files are lost.

Adding a 400gb h/d to a SL-75LIV main board

i would think it would support it....you have to make sure that the jumper on the back of the hard drive is set to master, if it is the main hard drive, or slave, if it is a secondary one...also, make sure you have the right cable to connect it with...if it is a SATA drive, you'll need an adapter to fit an IDE ribbon cable...if that is what your motherboard uses.
