Wow, after suffering a a rough journey from the airport, my laptop at its first use was fine, but then suddenly lost all response to the keyboard. After rebooting it, the screen and keyboard all did not respnd. My dad, who knows very little about computers told me to take the batteries out and put them back in. I did as he instructed, but also held f10 and f12 while turning it on, and AMAZINGLY it worked... at least some things in life r turning out alright.:) Not sure if removing the batteries and puting them back in while your laptop if off will help as much as it did with my laptop.

Pavilion dv9700, screen goes black if Iclose it. Take it apart, put it back together and works fine. Close top. goes black again. Take screen apart screen ok. What the heck. Inverter connections look ok....

Sounds like a loose lcd cable, I'd check to make sure it is secure (back of lcd) and where it connects to the motherboard. Usually a piece of tape right where it connects solves the problem ;)

Nothing to worry, Open your laptop from the back side.Remove the RAM  and reinsert it.

Screen stays black

There is few reason. Either your one of RAM is defective. Try both memory one by one. Even though if U don't see screen than its time to change motherboard.

Black screen

If the screen is breaking up into multiple screens, the video resolution isn't set correctly. Change the video properties back to the native resolution.

Right-click on an empty area of your desktop screen. Click on Properties at the bottom. Now click on the Settings tab.
The Screen Resolution slider should be all the way to the right, close to -> More.
The Colors should be set to the highest setting.

When you close the lid, you may have your laptop set to Sleep Mode, check that. You may also have your screen saver set to Blank, and no screen saver has been chosen.

(1.Screen Saver: Right-click on empty area of desktop>Properties>Screen Saver.

2.Sleep Mode: Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>Power Options>Power Buttons>When I press the sleep button on my computer>Then choose what you want it to do)

If none of this helps, I suggest you have a problem that HP needs to repair. Since you bought this dv9700t last July, would I be correct in assuming it's still under warranty?
