Umax 3400 win2k scans black picture (by 4 users)

Hi I have just got a Astra 3400 flatbed usb scanner from umax

After lots of time, I manage to get the scanner connected and working fine
until I scan. All it gives after scanning is a black or dark picture, no
image no nothing. there are some lines up and down.

any help would be appreciated

I also have Umax Austra 3400 scanner but as and when i scan a text document or a picture it scan BLACK.

I hv tired so many times but no results.

Would appreciate if you pls help me out?

Scanner does everything but; Turns off and on when pressing the power button and anything it scan comes out a black scanned picture

My UMAX scanner used to be working just fine but no it just scans dark blank pages!

I had the same problem with an old Umax 600P under Windows ME and 98SE,
using an earlier driver solved this. I now use a Umax 3400 with the ME PC,
this works fine with the VistaScan 3.75 driver. This can be downloaded from
Umax website, but it is 44MB in size - OK if you have broadband, if not a CD
can be requested. The only problem I now have is that VistAccess will not
retain settings for the user programmable button. I want this button to
scan to Fax. It does this until I close VistaAccess, it then reverts to
scan to email. Does anyone have any ideas on this.
