Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. This will reset it back to defaults.

You may have to unplug the power your modem and wait 20 seconds before you plug it back in. This will refresh the DNS information.

Type in from internet explorer http://192.168.0.1.

user id is admin
password is linksys

press the status button

make sure that you setup the router through a wired connected computer to the router. Linksys routers do not allow wireless admin connects by default.

My friend and I were chating on yahoo messenger and he sent me a pic of himself in a dark suit, tie very nice. And now I don't know how to find it on my c/p?

Yahoo Messenger does not have a default location to save files that have been sent to you. Instead, when the file is sent, it asks you to Save As or Decline. When you choose Save As it opens a popup asking where on your computer you want to save it.
If you still can't remember where you saved it, you can always perform a search on your C: drive for image files (.jpg/.png/.gif/.tiff etc) and then view by date.
If you are having trouble accomplishing this, please tell me what operating system you are running and what version and I will give you steps.

Trouble connecting to router

Make sure SSID broadcast is switched on under wireless settings. You will have to connect via ethernet cable first to do this.
Then, if PC's can see it, once logged in and set to automatic you can turn off SSID if you like.
Personally I leave it on and set high security using MAC addresses so I don't mind if my router broadcasts it's existence.

Intermitent wireless connection

1. check the firmware updates for you router.
There should be a update manager in the router.
2. bring up a web page type in 192.168.0.1 then enter the user name as "admin"
no password.
3. check status page to see if you are getting an IP address.
this is not a Windows 7 issue.
4. Hard wire the router to the PC to do the firmware updates. That is connect a RJ45 cable or ethernet cable ( straight through) not a crossover.

ActionTec not allowing RDP

There seems to be issues with RDP and VPN Routing with Actiontec Modems in that I can't get mine to work either unless I turn on DMZ hosting, and send all traffic to my Server.

Solution: Turn on DMZ Hosting and set the address to your desktop, warning, however, all traffic sent at your modem WILL be received by your computer, so make sure you have a good firewall installed.

Sending wireless messages

If Norton is intervening, it's most likely to be the anti-spam package that's doing it - make sure you don't have it installed, and if you do, try disabling it, if that doesn't work, try uninstalling it. That should do the job.
