Chances are you have the wrong region installed. try updating again and check which region was installed. Also, I'm surprised because the Street Pilot series is no longer able to get the latest map updates. I've heard that you can sometimes get a trade in value if you call Garmin Support at 1800-800-1020
Most stock units are equipped with a US & Canada map if purchased in the US. Yes, the unit will work in Italy but you will need to add a Europe Map on an SD card, as the internal memory may not be large enough to hold both maps.
The Street Pilot line was one of the first automotive GPS devices from Garmin, and has got to be 8+ years old. Garmin contracts with Navteq for map software. At one point, Garmin needed to have Navteq compress their new maps so that they wouldn't need to increase the amount of memory in the GPS units and still be able to include all the way points, and new features such as junction view, traffic receivers, text to speech voices, etc. These new maps have an "NT" descriptor in the title. "NT "stands for "New Technology". Non-NT maps are no longer produced.
The new Garmin GPS hardware had to included the ability to decompress maps "on the fly" for display on the screen. As a result, the NT maps will not work in the older Garmin devices.
Your best bet is to either use the Street Pilot - knowing that the routes may no longer provide accurate information, or purchase a New, Refurbished or Used GPS. Garmin offers "Lifetime Maps" as an option for nearly all NT capable GPS units either as a subscription after GPS purchase, or "in the box" when buying a Garmin GPS. You'll get FREE map updates for that GPS up to 4 times per year. This assures you of always having the most recent maps available in your GPS. Look for a model that has "LM" in it (ie: nuvi 1490LM). If it has a "T" in the model name (ie: nuvi 1490T), it has Lifetime Traffic. If it is listed as "LMT" (nuvi 1490LMT) it has both Lifetime Maps and Lifetime Traffic.
I'm not sure if the street pilot is the same as the garmin nuvi. I'd imagine the street pilot wouldn't be a whole lot different from the nuvi as they're both made by garmin.
Connect your Garmin to PC with USB cord. Open Garmin/GPX folder and copy the current.gpx file to pc and rename it to temp.gpx. Then copy the temp.gpx back to the new Garmin/GPX folder. Unplug Garmin. Turn off/on and your favorites should be back.
after i send the map with mapsource from first minnutes is not seen the detailed maps what were transferred but after the receiver catch signal it apears my map detailed i put gmasupp.unl file to garmin folder from microsd with key from keygen 1.5 i dont know if its necesary but its working with road 2008 romania @ europe nt v9
Garmin has issues with the newer (ROHS Compliant) cards, so If you recently bought this card get a replacement from garmin.
I had these issues too with a 256 MB, garmin replace the card with 2 128MB cards, worked fine after that.
The only way to update the maps is to purchase new maps from Garmin and download them via the computer. The 2008 map updates are currently available, and Garmin has told me new maps will be out in a few months.
