SOURCE: HOW TO CHANGE 320GB SATA HDD TO 500GB SATA

Yes. The case doesn't care what size the drive is. The computer is just asking for the USB driver for the case. Check the WD site for the driver for the model of MyBook that you have. That should cover it.

Go for it. There's a chance the internal drive will be PATA (IDE) but odds are good it's a SATA drive with standard connections.

Make sure your PC has connections for SATA drives, and you'll need to buy a SATA cable since the one in the LaCIE case won't connect from your drive to your motherboard.

Can't setup OS in SATA HDD in Intel d945gccr

Hi.

XP will not install until you go into the BIOS and find the menu page (probably by moving across the top level of tabs) where the SATA hard drives are configured. On that page you will see the ports and at least one, maybe all, will be Enabled. Close to that will be the port mode, usually setable individually for each port. Choices may include IDE (or PATA) Emulation, SATA, AHCI. Set your port to IDE emulation. Now look at the bottom for the key to Save and Exit - often the F10 key, press that key and select OK, the computer will restart and you should now be able to install Windows XP without any problems.

To get into the BIOS you have to press the Del or Esc key when you first turn the computer on.

SEAGATE hdd ST2000DL003. How do I get this HDD up and running?

Depending upon what kind of computer you are using, you might have to use an application which will allow you to partition this 2TB drive into smaller pieces. It is entirely possible that you have an older BIOS in your computer, or not enough RAM Memory, which will not allow you to deal with the new HDD in its full capacity, but will allow you to use it if repartitioned into smaller chunks, like 500 GB each. If so, making four 500 GB partitions in your 2 TB drive will be just as effective, but will give you four more drive labels, like G, H, I, and J to which you can write.

Good luck,

Hello,

Please make sure that the drive is properly plugged in and the drivers are properly installed. If you cant hear the HDD spinning, There is some serious problem and you must take it to an authorised service center. Opening the HDD on your own or by unauthorised people can lead to its damage. Also kindly try to check the same on other computers so that you can rule out the HDD failure ISsue.

Thanks

ASUS P4S533 mother board not supporting full 160 gb

This is happing becuase of your motherboards BIOS !
Really, this happened to me too. You see, our motherboards which are very old cant support above 80 and so on. This is beacuse of the BIOS. You will need to update your BIOS inorder to give new features.

Try go to the Asus home page and download the latest driver for your motherboard. Then install it in your motherboard's BIOS. There is intructions for this in the Asus's home page.
