The first thing I would do to protect the pump is to shut off breaker or unplug the pump.I'm sure you have already done this but most pumps will not run for extended periods of time without damage to the pump. I would make sure that the float is not rubbing on pit sides or has anything stoping it from shutting pump off. If you have a seperate mercury switch float then I would unplug it from pump and see if that will shut your pump off.
If you take the mercury switch out of the circuit and the pump continues to run then you need a new pump. Thank you.

Kenmore cold spot 106-9557611The ice bin is frosting up at the shut and the dispenser only wants to dispense crushed ice.

This is caused by air leaking past the seal in the shut door. Push in on the paddle and release and watch the door shut close. It should make an air tight seal. You can also shine a flashlight in the shut and look at the opposite side to look for light.

My shotgun is not ejecting the shell-

If what you are saying the empty Shell is still in the open ejection area and another is trying to push in..if so your ejected is either worn or has gunk built up around it or your chamber is dirty and causing the just fired shell to stick momentarily...try firing and eject an empty shell without another feeding in and see if it clearly and quickly ejects the empty..if not it is the ejector or dirty chamber the new steel is spring fed so it should not be the poblem ..you can try another spring and see what happens. My bet is a worn or dirty ejector..or a long shot it may be the shells expanding too much do to age damp etc try different ones..good luck..

I would like to purchase the convertible ejector package for a Dayton electric convertible jet pump. The part number for the ejector package is 1P971A and it fits pump model # 1P981B . This is an old pump...

You are likely wasting your time trying to by a Grainger item outside Grainger’s network of how many hundreds of branches? They no longer offer the pump or the kit. Your best chance at getting a part would be calling Grainger and trying to get a lead to their vendor who made the pump and contact them. Grainger, like Sears, merely has another pump maker produce a line of private labeled pumps (Teel) that they sell. Since they no longer sell it, they usually will tell you who made that item for them and will give you contact info. At least with the original manufacturers part number you would have a better chance of finding it on some distributor’s shelf.

Good luck.

Ejector pump will not shut off automatically after basin empties, I have to unplug it to keep the motor from burning out. What could be the problem?

You either need to repair/replace the float switch, this switch is the device that turns the pump on and off

Ejector pumps started to go off frequently

The ejector pumps probably pump to the same sewer pipe you had rooted. Rooting can do damage. Trees can break into your sewer pipe, jam them up with roots, and let ground water in. The ground water may be following your sewer pipes on the outside back to your house. It costs a lot, but you can have your pipes examined with a tv camera, the rooter people can do that. Make sure your ejectors have check valves, and they are working right. It's easy for something to get stuck in the check, and then water will come back.

Water backing up into my basement ejector pump during heavy rain

I have seen this problem several times before. The ejector pump should be in a separate crock in the ground by itself. Someone has installed it in the crock that is meant to pump out drain water. Probably the result of adding a bathroom in the basement. You need to bust another hole in the floor and install a separate crock to solve this problem correctly. If it just started happening go outside and look at he gutters to make sure water is running away from the house and not up against the foundation.
