Question about Garmin iQue 3600 GPS Receiver

Data card and frozen screen

Can not see any data from the plug in card. Also, screen freezes and can not enter anything or turn unit off. Rest does nothing.

    This is for a iQue 3600. Frozen screen displays "Powered by Palm". Reset does nothing.

    It used to work fine. I used it last week. When I came back to my car it flashed between the normal screen and Powered by Palm.

    solution from voodoomox did not work. Ssreen now has Palm Powered logo and the ique menu but nothing works. Can not even turn it off.

As the device is out of warranty , you need to give the device to service in a local mobile GPS Service center as this could be hardware failure ....

What happens if you try the Garmin without the SD card? If it works it is a faulty card.

Raytill, try this.

Perform a Hard Reset of the unit. To perform this procedure you will need the reset tip tool, which may be unscrewed from the head of the Stylus that came with your iQue. The following instructions are also included on page 1.6 of the iQue 3600 Integrated Handheld Operating Instructions manual.
A. With the unit turned off, press and hold in the reset button on the back of the unit using the reset tip tool.
B. Continue to hold in the reset button while you press and hold the power button.
C. While holding in the power button, remove the reset tool from the reset hole.
D. Continue holding the power button until the Palm logo appears on the screen.
E. Once the Palm logo appears, release the power button.
F. Press the up button when prompted to confirm the erase of user data.

i this id not work, you may need to use release 7 of your device's software

but the ver6 only works if your previous software is v.5.2.1r3 or later.

    yikes, thats too bad, but if the software flashing did not work, you may need to consult your garmin warranty info.

    There are two types of reset.Soft and hard reset.The soft reset will not erase your data but a hard reset will completely erase your data and will restore the device to factory settings.For more details on how to perform a soft and hard reset please CLICK HERE

Master reset from settings menu

A master reset restores the original factory settings and may delete your personal data on the internal storage, such as downloads, ringtones, images, apps, contacts, and Visual Voicemail. It does not delete data stored on the SIM card or SD card.
  1. From any Home screen, tap the All apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Scroll to the 'PERSONAL' heading, then tap Backup & reset.

1. Activate the TeleType GPS program

2. Select Tools>GPS Status>Status.

3. Look closely at the GPS output that is displayed in the View Status menu. Data should be flowing even when the GPS receiver has not locked in the position.

The data string that begins:
GPGSV... is "bad data" because the receiver has not locked into the satellites.

Whereas:
GPGSA... is "good data" indicating that the receiver has locked into the satellites. Remember - "A-Okay"

4. Once the data is flowing, go outside away from buildings, select the Satellites tab (Tools>GPS Status>Satellites), and watch the satellite signal strength

Screen locked and unable to unlock


Turn off . Press and hold POWER + ENTER button for reset menu.

Select
Factory reset with Volume Down button and press Power to reset. All data will be lost! there is an alternate method too friend
Use this method to hard reset your Samsung GT-S Galaxy mini phone: Enter *2767*3855#. Warning! All your data including contacts, messages etc. will be lost! Copy all your necessary data/Contacts/Messages etc. to SIM or make backup to your PC before full reset! Take out SIM card before full reset.

FYI - a hard reset deletes ALL data on the cell phone so make sure you backup your contacts before performing these steps.

Enter *2767*3855#.

Warning! All your data including contacts, messages etc. will be lost! Copy all your necessary data/Contacts/Messages etc. to SIM or make backup to your PC before full reset! Take out SIM card before full reset.

Menu > Settings > Reset
Reset various settings to the factory default values. Select which settings to reset. You must enter your device password
to reset the settings.

Your device freezes or has fatal errors
If your device freezes or hangs, you may need to close programs or reset the device to regain functionality. If your
device is still responsive but a program is frozen, close the program using the task manager. If your device is frozen and
unresponsive, remove the battery, replace the battery, and turn on the device.

Frozen map screen


Try purchasing a new SD memory card (brand name) and installing the files there. Sometimes the manufacture sends cheap SD cards and the data is easily lost in damaged or poorly made SD cards. I have a EVESHAM 2007 and installed the files from the original CDto a new SD card and solved freezing and other problems resulting from poor data transmission from the cheap SD.

Also, try going online to the manufactureer's web site to see if they have downloads/ updates available there to replace the origianl install files that came with the unit. Always put on new brand new SD card.

Unit freezes


Have you updated the GPS software lately for free via Garmin.com? THere was a new satellite launched in 2008 causing a lot of reception problems, and this might be the cause of your problem. Please update your unit and advise us here of the outcome. Thanks.

IQ 3600 Data card and frozen screen


I had the same problem awhile ago, the SD card was too large for the unit. I had lots of trouble and did everything under the sun. Then one day, just for the heck of it, I pulled the SD card out and whatdoyaknow?! It started up! I installed the same card again, and just like that it quite again. Sooooo I replaced the SD card with a smaller card, and have not had any trouble since, after I got my original problem fixed. Try this solution and see how it acts for you. Jeff.

Frozen screen when turned on


Kevin, Hmm... it worked fine the first two times you ran it, then all of a sudden it freezes at the user screen?? I'm not sure if your able to do this, but at the user menu, try pressing the (-)zoom out key and the repeat button a the same time. -If it does bring up the "secret" menu, try clearing user data. -If you have a program that allows you to update the software, version 4.32 I'm guessing (or 5.14) then at that "secret" menu select NAND Flash Format and re-load the software. If you can't access the "secret" menu and it locks up hard at the user menu w/out any responsiveness, I would suspect the hard drive is either bad or has corrupt data. I'm not sure if you can order just the hard drive from magellan/thales/tomtom/shaw but if you can then just replace the hard drive, nand flash format (above) and re-install your software via usb. Additionally, not that it helps your problem, but atleast you would know the pwr and keypad work if this works, press Enter, Cancel and power button at the same time, as this SHOULD power off your unit. Let me know if any new symptoms/problems come up or if you need further instructions. -Daniel
