Question about Maytag Atlantis MDE7400AY Electric Dryer
Timer has been replaced twice by a Maytag service tech. Neither work. Will not advance. Heats well but does not cool down. The vent is not plugged up -plenty of air is exhausting outside, don't know if it is exhausting full force.
Depending on model, (mechanical timer or electronic timer)
Mechanical dryer timer has a tiny motor to advance it
many times service techs forget to plug in the timer drive motor when they replace the timer switch that it is screwed to
or they replace the switch when the switch is ok, but the motor is bad
Not a solution just something to check
the timer drive motor is a 2inch diameter press formed sheet metal device 1/2 inch thick on the rear of the timer switch
if there are wires hanging off, that is the solution
if there is no hum from the timer motor when you push the start button, replace the timer drive motor
electronic, not had one break yet
