API call to enable WiFi freezes screen

Hello, we programmatically turn Wifi on using DevicePowerNotify.

Occasionally, a call to DevicePowerNotify freezes the screen completely. Sometimes it recovers, but most of the time (when this happens) MC70 users simply reset the device, incurring data loss for our application.

The problem is very hard to reproduce, but it seems like something "breaks" in the Wifi driver, and once that happens, then EVERY call to DevicePowerNotify will result in the screen freezing up for at least 7-8 seconds.

Has anybody heard of this problem before? It does not seem to matter if the call was from the UI thread, or an additional worker thread: once it's "broken", it keeps freezing the screen until the device is "soft" reset.

Will be grateful for any ideas, thank you.

Wifi connection problem on P1i

Try formatting the phone to factory settings. Happens with my P1i occasionally. If your wifi is secured, it gives such problems. Dont secure your wifi. Try in any other wifi network.

I cannot establish a working WiFi on my ASUS A639 PDA

You can simply follow the first 3 steps of this (http://iris.nyit.edu/oit/academic/FAQ/faq/2wireless/20026/20026.pdf) tutorial. After that, you should see your home wifi name in the list (as in the photo in the tutorial.). You should first connect to a network from this list (possibly with a wifi password), then it should connect automaticly evertime you swtich on wifi. After you have successfully connected to a wifi, you should see the wifi icon changes in the task bar. Hope this helps.

if you are telling me that it has already builtin wifi, you dont have to buy it, those people who doesnt have built in wifi can use sd card for wifi,im sure it will fit to yours, because SD card has standard size..

Connecting using WiFi

Doesn't seem like a hardware issue..

I would suggest a Reset to your phone..

Just go to Control Panel > Master Reset..

Do take a back-up on your PC before as this process WILL ERASE data..

IPaq 6365 WiFi Wont Shut Off

There's a little utility I use (just because it's quicker than the usual iPaq Wireless screen buttons) called WirelessSwitcher. http://www.aspecto-software.com/WiFiFoFum/Utilities.htm Maybe this would do the trick for you.
