Just got a Umax 2100u with version 3.52u of the install CD. I,ve followed
the instructions to the letter and the scanner just isn't responding at all.
When I use the Scanner Test utility it says that there is a connection
error, probably caused by:-
- The Interface card not being installed properly
- The SCSI cable not installed properly.
Now, it's supposed to be a USB scanner - anyone know what's going one?
Cheers

downloaded from the link provided and installed the program; scanner is still seen as unknown device on USB hub; attempted to update driver but can't find it anywhere on harddrive or am told *.inf doesn't match my hardware. Is there anywhere to change "unknown device" to scanner and why when you try to set up scanner in control panel USB is not an option?

I have the next set of drivers for the umax astra 2100u, got them at http://www.nodevice.com/driver/Astra_2100U/get26110.html maybe this will help correct your problem. Haven't tried them yet, will tomorrow.

http://www.umax.com/support/do wnload.html The only problem is it's a 34.1MB
download. I would try contacting them to see if you can obtain the new
version on disk. Greg T

CD is ver.3.53U. One thing you don't mention is what type of operating
system and what hardware(especially motherboard) you have. Greg T

there. Also check at the motherboards website to see if certain types and
/or brands of hardware have issues with that board. What chipset is on the
board? Some people have trouble with Via chipsets. I had an Epson 610U(USB)
scanner and could not get it to work reliably on my old board(Tyan 1590s).
There is a couple other avenues you can take. You could install a PCI USB
card if you have an extra slot and interrupt or try a powered USB hub. I
would first check the scanner out on another computer. Greg T
