Remove the back and check and see if the battery isn't fully connected

The very first time you charge your battery YOU MUST CHARGE IT FULLY!!! If you didn't, that is probably the problem.

Also, even if you charge the player for just a couple of minutes it will APPEAR to have a fully charged battery when it actually doesn't.

Most portable media devices require at least 20 minutes to an hour to fully charge whether the screen shows that it is fully charged or not.

your lithium battery is probably fried.

I plugged in my sandisc player to my computer to charge the battery and when I unplugged it fully charged it still just says connected?

thier is a pic of a batterty in the bottom right corner, it will be fully green when charged. otherwise it will be flashing.

I would charge the Fuze fully before first use, actually this is what is recommended. You'll know when it is finished, as you will get a full green battery icon displaying.
The players are not fully charged when first shipped.

if it says that it's charged fully after you charge it then it sounds klike the battery may be almost dead, contact sandisk on their website to see if these are replacable because many are not. www.sandisk.com

have you made sure it is fully charged before you try turning it on off its battery power?

Sandisk is a brand that is best used with its own. There are two degrees of separation here. 1) It is a cell phone charger
2) The charger is not in its family.

With both things working against the machine, it is not a surprise it will not fully charge.
