I have a Garmin 760 nuvi that I bought in April, 2008 and have never set it for integrated FM TMC traffic reciever. I have been told that I need to program my 760 nivi to do this. Please advise me on how to do this. James R. York e-mail address- [email protected]

My son also has a garmin 760nuvi and has his unit programed for traffic reports without buying an extra special antenna. He said all he had to do was enter a code into his 760. This is what I am looking for. My impression is that all I need is a code to activate my 760 for traffic reports. bcyork1

Please advise me about who to contact to activate my Garmin 760 for traffic reports. I realize that I will have to suscribe and pay for it.

Traffic service is not free , you have to pay per month. Some Garmin comes with three or six month free traffic service, that is the reason why your son could use it.

Hello, I have a Garmin nuvi 3790T GPS and also the cable with built-in FM receiver. How can I receive traffic alerts? Do I need to purchase anything? Technically I am a novice, hope you can help. Thank...

To make it work, buy a subscription on a traffic alert service (RDS - TMC) available in your region/country at garmin.com. For crossborder service buy the traffic service there too.

Its possible to buy a lifetime variant - meaning it will stay active for your receiver.

I just bought the garmin nuvi 265wt. I tried to activate the free lifetime traffic that comes with the unit but when I touched the screen to enable the traffic it told me I first must go to www.garmin/fm...

Check the information that came in your box. With my TomTom Lifetime Traffic and Maps, there was an "activation" number on one sheet of paper. I had to activate (per instructions) before I could enable the lifetime goodies.

Need traffic code

Hello,

The 1450 dosent use a traffic code system, it uses the 12V cord as a traffic receiver if you didnt purchase a 1450T you will not have this receiver. It can be purchased separately if wanted here is a link. www.gpscity.ca/garmin-gtm-25-fm-tmc-portable-lifetime-traffic-receiver.html

Hope this helps!

I bought the Nuvi 1490 which should have come with live traffic. It has never worked and I can't add it to my GPS

This is from Garmin's website, www.garmin.com, regarding the Nuvi 1490T. If you haven't already done so, you might want to check and make sure you are in an area that does receive traffic coverage.

¹Lifetime traffic extends for the useful life of your Garmin traffic receiver (as long as you own a compatible Garmin GPS) or as long as Garmin receives traffic data from its traffic supplier, whichever is shorter. Traffic content not available for all areas. See www.navteq.com/rdstraffic for traffic coverage areas and www.garmin.com/traffic/fm/navteq.html for program License Agreement containing complete terms and conditions.

Can this item support traffic subscription

You'll need an additional TMC-module to receive the traffic information.

Garmin nuvi / gtm 20 charger not working. I think it's a blown fuse. How to replace fuse?

If yours has a plastic tip at the silver metal contact, just unscrew the plastic part between the silver ring and the silver tip. Counter clockwise! Fuse should fall out but take cautions not to lose the silver tip part. I you do it can be found at www.gpsnstuff.com

Garmin Nuvi 760

I have the same unit. It comes with a trial subscription and then there is one time fee. The traffic will ONLY work when it is plugged into a power source in the car.

Remember to turn off the unit before you disconnect the cable. Otherwise the GPS unit will stay on and drain the power.

Garmin 760 phone feature

Did you check the settings for the sound output? If it is set to FM-receiver, you have to tune your radio to the same frequency as the 760 transmitting frequency. To get sound from 760-device, you must deselect the FM-transmitting feature.
(I don´t think this solves your problem. Too obvious.)

Garmin Nuvi 350 Traffic Receiver connection

You have to power the unit via the mount by either using the cigar charger in the car or snap off the mount from the ball and socket and power it via the mains adapter.
