Do you know if there's a DVD in the tray?
If so, have you tried to take the cover off to see if you can dislodge the stuck disk?
Does the player function properly otherwise (still powers on, still displays a menu on the TV screen, etc.)?

Don't take the cover off. Open the door and use a small flat instrument to depress the tray release buttom (it is indented on the lower right hand side of the tray. If there is a disk remove it. Turn off your system and the tray will close. Restart you system and see will the trat open.

1) try to clean the button with special contact cleaner spray

What could be done is to leave the set Switched ON for many hours even overnight and see how it can change if there is a possible fault on the motherboard, a change of value in electrolytic capacitors.
If there is no result then there is fault in the motherboard and you need to take consensus for an estimate.

Go Video DV 2150 - DVD door won't open at all. You can hear a mechanism working behind the closed door, but nothing happens and the door remains shut. Any advice??

There is a small belt under the loading tray which would have gone slack ( loose ) and the sound you hear is it slipping on the motor pulley. If you are confident you can remove the mechanism and turn it upside down and access this belt. Dismantle only if you can get the spare belt or your efforts will be in vain.

Well i think that the problem is the optical lens, if you remove the optical lens under this optical lens you will see a potentiometer try to adjust it clockwise but small adjustment is needed if wrong adjustment is done your optical lens may not work again. good day and best regards.

I need to hack the region of the Sony DVD SR500H

Hi there

Follow these steps and your dvd will be able to play discs from any region.

*With the player in stand-by mode (take out any discs and leave it alone for several minutes) press on the remote, in this order: TOP MENU, CLEAR, POWER.

*A menu will appear with several options. Choose Option 2 and then Option 4.

*Type 12450, press enter, then type 00000.
  • Step 4 After the tray opens and closes repeatedly (this is normal), unplug the unit, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Assuming there is nothing stuck in the tray, the gears over time will wear out and the tray will no longer come out. Another possible cause is a weak motor, either way the tray will have to be replaced in order for it to work properly again.

I had the same problem - unplug first- it is easy to undo all 6 small screws - open it up -plug in and then you can give it a little help to open it. It worked for me, BUT now it will open and close but not play the dvd.
