try the shift key, then press every key on the keyboard one may be partially tripped. If all else fails lift the front about 4 inches and drop.

Some of the keys are not working like - shift, 4,5,6. And key 'p' takes too much time to repeat

Most likely something was spilled in the keyboard or is not getting a good connection at the USB port. Try swapping ports, if that doesn't fix it, try cleaning the keyboard (unplugged). If all else fails replace, these are fairly cheap keyboards.

  • BAD KEYBOARD , try another yet?
  • Corrupted OS. (virus or bunged drivers)
if you boot to any test disk or stick does it fail still.?
I have a linux CD and Linux boot USB stick.
I insert it and boot to it, its super simple to do on all PCs made.
if Linux like this KBD then the KBD is not bad, for a fact.
that takes, 5min or less work. to learn this fact.
did you know a USB keyboard works on laptops too? try it.

this link solves , corrupted OS. (the easy way of 3 possible)

The worst case is laptops(notebooks)

here is LT running perfectly with no original keyboard
take any USB keyboard and plug it in, and test any LT made.
and any Desktop made with USB ports,
all LT have USB, (not in 1984 HPs first)

The CAPS, TAB,SHIFT and CTRL key does not work, How do I fix them?

try an external keyword for testing that those keys work on the external.
if they do, just replace the laptop keyboard.

if they do not work with an external keyboard, your laptop motherboard has a fault keyboard controller chip. these are not replaceable, and will require a new motherboard. Check your warranty status.

Shift key has to be pressed firmly to work.

If there were more that one key that has failed it would indicate that you have a keyboard controller chip that has failed or that the connector from the keyboard to the motherboard is not making proper contact. You may get that key to work by pressing that key very firmly.

You may be able to fix the faulty key by removing that key and spraying the faulty key contact with electronic spray cleaner whilst pressing the key pad several times. It may not work because it may be sealed and the cleaning fluid may not be able to penetrate the key contacts.

Then the only thing to do is to buy and fit a new keyboard from the manufacrurer.,

7330GZ Gateway laptop keyboard doesn't work

There is one thing you can try. Uninstall the drivers for the keyboard from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the keyboard and reinstall the drivers automatically. If this doesn't work, then I'm afraid the Shift key function has failed and the keyboard will need replaced in order to fix it.
