Initially check whether the ip address is assigned in the computer in which internet is not browsing using the command ipconfig/all for windows and ifconfig for linux. If ip is present try to ping the default gateway ip address,if ping is success there is no issue in the cable you used and also with ip address. If ip is not assigned assign ip by manually or by using dhcp of router.Enable and disable the lan card in the router so that sometimes the problem get resolved. After ip is assigned and ping with router is ok .Ensure dns servers are correct else give google public dns server 8.8.8.8.Then try to ping www.google.com in command prompt if ping is success then you can browse.

Tip

Tip on speeding up your Internet connection.

I have high speed and my Internet was sluggish at best for months. I tried everything including the following Resetting my cable modem, replacing my cable modem with a newer model. Resetting my Wi-Fi router, replacing my Wi-Fi router. Reinstalling my operating system. Updating my network drivers. Scanning for Malwere and viruses daily. I tried different browers including Firefox, Chrome and others. I updated Internet Explorer with all the latest patches.

I have determine that the DNS server was the issue. The DNS server is a translator, it allows us to just type in the website name like www.microsoft.com instead of remembering numbers like 216.239.51.99. I fix mine by using Open DNS instead of my internet provider DNS Server.

Here is how to fix it. Go to control panel, then click on your local area connection icon. Click on properties and then double click on TCP/IP Internet Protocol. Leave the top settings alone, which will still obtain the IP address automatically. Type in the Open DNS Preferred DNS server settings of 24.25.5.60. Type in the Open DNS Alternate DNS server settings of 24.25.5.61. Reboot your PC and enjoy the speed.

Cant hook up

ok... so im guessing your using sat for internet, so you would set one plug with zyxel PL-100 and it sending signal in, while adding zyxel PL-100 a computer works, and another craps out... Solution: use a router
insert satalite into wan port, set up router
run a client wire from the router to a zyxel PL-100
and the others should pick up off that one..

like so.. :direct from zyxel website specific for pl-100

I CAN GET THE INTERNET EXPLORER TO WORK WITH MY MODEM.... SOMEHOW I THINK THE IP AND DNS ADDRESS IS WRONG... IT KEEP SAYING CHECK THE DOMAIN SERVER.... WHAT IS THE CORRECT IP AND DNS AND SUBMASK...

Hi, Go under network connection Right click on wireless Network connection or LAN connection (depens on what you're using to connect to the modem, a cable or through a wireless connection) and then properties. Scroll down until you see TCP/IP and double click on it. Make sure that it's set to obtain an address automatically and to obtain a DNS server address automatically. If you are using a router, do the same, but in this case you can set a static address. The subnet mask is 255.255.265.0 and the DNS address has usually the same address of your router.

Need ip adress and primary dns to install a wireless router

DSL or cable? DSL you will only need your usernam/password combo for PPPOE, cable you should be able to just plug it in and go. set your router for DHCP and it will pull all pertinent info from your ISP's DHCP and DNS servers.

My laptop has problem getting access to either my webside provider or explorer through my BELKIN ADSL MODEM with wireless G router

Sometimes routers lock up. Try shutting down the router (unplug if there is no on/off), wait 30sec, then turn back on. See if that doesn't help.

Next try changing your DNS settings to something other then the ISP's settings. To change you need to get to the network properties, and change the TCP/IP settings. Best way is to click on START, SETTINGS, CONTROL PANEL. NETWORK CONNECTIONS. Right click on LOCAL AREA NETWORK (if you are physically connected), and go to properties.

Once there, scroll down to INTERNET PROTOCAL (TCP/IP), highlight it, and click on PROPERTIES.

Here is where you can enter new DNS settings. I use 206.13.29.12, and 206.13.30.12 respectively. You can do a search for DNS servers on the internet and put one in there to see if it solves your issue.

Just a NOTE: Recently ISP's have been updating their systems and DNS servers due to a flaw in the DNS design which is world wide. If your issue of reaching some sites fails and is recent, it could be due to this update process.

I cant get onto internet explorer it says dns error can you help?

Check out your internet connection and its settings, whether it is dial up or broadband oriented.
then you have to know about your ip address of dns server in the network setting places.
you just ping the ip address of dns server following as...

go to start, then run and type "cmd", and it shows the command prompt. type as following format.

ping 10.10.10.5 and press enter key.. this is the sample ip address only. if it gets reply, your dns server is ok. you can use internet. suppose, it wont comes, ask your service provider or support for another or different ip address of dns to check it out.

Are you trying to connect the laptop using wireless? If so, you probably don't have the wireless settings from your router setup on the laptop. If you have a Windows based computer, click START => RUN.., type CMD, then hit OK. A black DOS window will appear. Type IPCONFIG and hit ENTER. You should see something like this:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.xxx
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1

Open your web browser and type in the address you see next to "Default Gateway" (in this example it's 192.168.0.1). This *should* be your router. Hit ENTER and you should connect to your router's web interface. From here you can find your wireless settings and match them on your laptop.

Laptops also usually have off/on switches for the wireless feature. Check to make sure you have the wireless card actually turned on. That is a simple mistake people make.

I hope this somehow helps.
