  2. Click the picture or color you want for your desktop background.

If the picture you want to use is not in the list of desktop background pictures, click the Picture location down arrow to view other categories, or click Browse to search for the picture on your computer. If you choose to have a centered picture as your desktop background, you can also have a color background to frame your picture. Under How should the picture be positioned, click Change background color, click a color, and then click OK.

Windows 7 Starter edition comes with one desktop background, which can't be changed or customized. Please see this link for details.

I want to change my desktop background. .what is the easiest and safest site to go to for reat pictures?

Right click your mouse on an empty area of the desktop. A small menu will appear.
  1. Click on Properties [This will be Personalize on Windows Vista or Windows 7] to open the Display Properties screen window.
  2. 3Select the Desktop tab, if using Windows XP. Windows 98 users can select the Background tab.
  3. 4Choose a background. On the lower left half of the Display Properties Window, you will see Background (Win XP) or Wallpaper (Win 98). You can choose a background from the long menu list by clicking on the background/wallpaper design you want.
  4. 5Select a position. Stretch is generally the best choice but if the image you have selected is of a low resolution or an aspect ratio different from your monitor's, then Center or Tile will work best.
  5. 6Click OK to close the Display Properties Window.

Desktop is not showing up. There is a window in place of the desktop.

You may activate your desktop again by right clicking your display, click Properties. When the desktop button shows up, choose a background then apply. If it still doesn't show up, you may need to reinstall your windows software.

No live picture on Benq digital projector

seems to me like your acer laptop's display is configured " extend my desktop to this monitor", that's why you can only see the desktop background. Go to your display properties and change it to clone display or uncheck the extend display option.
