Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

Recently my Logitech MX700 mouse seems to be misbehaving and I can't figure out if it's the mouse or software. There are a couple of symptoms. First: try to highlight a line or two and the highlight turns off before you get the entire block highlighted. This happens over and over again. Second: click on the top of a window to highlight it or drag it and about 50% of the time it's exactly like clicking on the full screen button.

Try another mouse. if this works ok you have a faulty mouse if it does the same thing check for viruses as some of them stuff the mouse up. mice are cheap enough.

Push the connect button on the base - the light on the base should flash. Push the connect button on the keyboard. The light should stop flashing. (This is the generic Logitech way - individual models may vary slightly.)

I cann't figure out how to install battery on my logitech optical mouse. can any one help me pls ?

There should be a small sliding cover on the bottom of the mouse, it should have a couple of small arrows indicating which way to slide the cover. You will need either AA or AAA batteries.

I contacted Logitech and registered a problem with them and they are working on it now. I did not realize that your site required a fee for advice and I'm sorry for bothering you. Thanks anyway.

Have you uninstalled it and then reinstalled it? Try downloading the most recent version software online. If you can't download the software, you might have other issues!

Hi Mary,

Just uninstalling the software won't help. You have to see whether or not your PC detects the mouse on startup. If not, go to the System Properties in the control panel and look for any conflict signs in the Hardware List. If so, you will see a yellow/red triangle with an Exclamation mark in it. This indicates that a hardware peripheral is either conflicting or not installed correctly or drivers missing. Highlight that by a single mouseclick and delete that & close the wondow. Now go to Add New Hardware in the control panel & try autodetecting the mouse. If your OS asks for drivers CD simply insert the Windows CD in your driver & direct its path to autodetect the .inf file and autoinstall the default drivers.

As far as I feel, an opticla mouse such as the one you have mentioned should automatically be installed if you are using Windows XP.

Anyway, try the above and let me know.
