Do you have a Wireless Internet Network. If you do, then go to your modem, and disconnect the power wire and plug out your Wireless Internet Network. Wait for about 10 seconds, then start reconnecting your internet modem and plug in your Wireless Internet Network. Sometimes all 4 green lights will appear.

If it said "network security key" or "passphrase". Then you should buy a USB Flash Drive.

To connect your computer to the Internet via a wireless router, you click the Refresh network list, then Choose your wireless network and then click Connect to your secured Wireless Network, it will asks for a Network Key before allowing you to connect into your wireless network. This Network Key is either the WEP, or WPA or WPA2 Encryption key that is used to configure the Wireless Router. The Passphrase is an alternate way to setup the Encryption key.
When you are requested for a Network Key, you can just enter the Passphrase that was used to configure the Encryption key in the wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r5270415-network_password_network_address For information on securing your wireless network, configuring the wireless router and configuring the wireless card in the laptop/computer, please click on this link and follow my instructions :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3559128-wireless_router_security

Acquiring network address (Limited or no connectivity)

1.Check whether you are typing the correct key
2.Remove the preferred networks
3.Disable WLAN/LAN and Enable it
4.Assign static IP address in the range of modem

post more details

in the mean time try this:

1. if it's a virus or malware clean up your computer (use AVG or avast for virus clean up and Spybot S&D, adware se, and a-squared for other malware.. all of them are free). make sure you update the programs and run them 1 or 2 times depending how contaminated your system is.

2. repair your internet adapter's connection:. in network connections, select right click your network adapter and select repair.. see if you get an valid ip address different from 0.0.0.0

3. Do you have access to your access point / router on the network you have problems with.
you need to have the SSID for your Access point (router) and a key or passphrase (if setup) if you don't have those check with your network administrator

4. did you mess around with the internet options?.. open your browser go into tools, internet options, security tab and reset your internet settings for the internet zone to default.

5. check you are within range and that your wireless adapter is on.

good luck and post more details to be assisted further if needed.

Right click on network icon in the systray, click on “connect to a network” – you’ll see it’s listed as a “security enabled network”
"Type the network security key or passphrase for..."
The person who setup the network can give you the key or passphrase"
"Security key or passphrase"
Note: Checking the box next to "Display characters" can make life easier
Click on “Connect”
Leave the defaults of “Save this network” and “Start this connection automatically”
Click on “Close”

This works for both xp and vista

1.

3.
Select in_networkset.gif (Network Settings) under in_setting.gif (Settings) in the home menu.

If you follow the on-screen instructions, the necessary settings will be completed automatically. For information on access points that support automatic setup, contact your local retailer.
connectwireless002.jpg 8.
Select the access point that you want to use.
An "SSID" is an identification name assigned to an access point. If you do not know which SSID you should use or if an SSID is not displayed, contact the person who set up or maintains the access point for assistance.
connectwireless003.jpg 9.
Check the SSID for the access point.
10.
Select the security settings that you want to use.
The types of security settings vary depending on the access point. Contact the person who set up or maintains the access point for information on which setting to select.

Depending on the network environment, additional settings for PPPoE, proxy server or IP address may be required. For details on these settings, refer to the information from your Internet service provider or the instructions supplied with the network device.
12.
Save your settings.
13.
Test the connection.
If you select [Test Connection], the system will attempt to connect to the Internet.
14.
Confirm the connection test results.
If a successful connection has been made, information on the network will be displayed.

Hints
  • If the connection fails, follow the on-screen instructions to check your settings. Also refer to the information from your Internet service provider and the instructions supplied with the network device in use.
  • If you test the connection immediately after selecting [Automatic] > [AOSS™] in step 7, the router settings may not be completed and the connection may fail. Wait approximately 1 or 2 minutes before testing the connection.
