Wireless adapater not showing up in device manager

I have a Emachine and used to be able to surf the web with the wireless adapter, now I can no longer connect and it just seems like the adapter disappeared. It is no longer showing up in the device manager. Could someone help me. I would like to be able to get back online.

If you feel comfortable opening your tower up and checking if the adapter card is still seated into the pci slot, that is the first thing I would do. Turn the computer off. Unplug it from the socket. Open the case and find the card - it's easy to find with the antenna sticking out of the back. Just use enough pressure to be sure it is down all the way. Put things back together and turn it back on. If it is recognized you'll be prompted for a driver cd (or Windows will install its own driver) and you'll be off and surfing. If it doesn't recognize it, the adpater card is aparently defective and needs to be replaced. (It wouldn't hurt to check the adapter's support site on the web - assuming you have an alternative way for connecting to the web.)

Check the Device Manager in the Control Panel and see if the drivers are loaded. Click Start/Control Panel and look for System or System and Performance. Open it and look for Device Manager. Open the Device Manager and check the Network Adapters.

Download and Install Network Adapters.

Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "EmachineSupport" or "Gateway Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Download and install the Network Adapter drivers.

How do i know if my desktop has wifi

Assuming that you are using the Windows operating system, right click on the My Computer icon (on the desktop or in the Start menu).
Select Properties from the drop down list.
When the System Properties window opens, select the Hardware page tab then click on the Device Manager button.
In the Device Manager window, expand the Network adapters line (click on the + sign on the left) and look at what actual hardware adapters you have installed.
Most desktops do not normally have wireless adapters installed by default so you may only see any Firewire (1394) and Ethernet adapters.

An alternative approach to using the Device Manager would be to download and install a copy of the free Belarc Advisor utility which will take an inventory of your installed hardware and software, then display this in your default web browser. You can then look at what network adapters are installed that way too.

Emachine won't connect to the internet. Ethernet cable, router and modem all work just fine. problem is with computer. Check network adapters in device manager and no problem noted there. Why won't it...

first try to check if your wireless can actually detect a network, if it can try to remove ALLthe network that you have on your wireless network and try to add your network again, if still doest work try to uninstall and re install your wireless driver, if it still doesnt work try to restart your router, if still doesnt work try to do system restore to the point where your wireless was workin fine, lastly if still doesnt work try to contact your ISP for some configuration.

My HP wireless doesn't work? I don't have wireless connection on my compaq laptop anymore.

check your wireless adapter is on... the switch is on the front of your laptop and you should show a blue light when it's on, also go into device manager and see network adapters.. you should have 2 (the wire one built-in and your wireless network adapter.. if you only have one network adapter, check the front and see if the light indicating the status of your wireless network adapter is amber.. (if it's showing amber and you're sure it's in the on position you may have a motherboard problem and you may need to send the system back (I just had one of those with a compaq computer and since the item was within warranty the fixed in a week)

if your wireless adapter light is blue and you see your wireless adapter in device manager follow this instructions and you should be ok,

On my laptop, I cant connect with wireless connection.

1. were you ever able to do it before?
2. first.. check your wireless adapter is on and you have a light showing you adapter is on (blue or green).. on some compaq laptops if you get an amber light and the switch is on the on position the wireless adapter may be faulty and your motherboard may have to be replaced.
3. check also you are within range of your access point (router).. usually on the system tray (where you clock is ) you will see icons showing you are within range or not (ex. a computer flasing a little blue light with some waves to right).
4. find if your computer detects your wireless adapter (go into start>right click my computer>properties>hardware tab> device manager... and look under network adapters! if you see your wireless adapter make sure you don't have a ? or a ! sign next to it.. if you do you may need to update the driver or reinstall the driver of this device. check the cd that came with the adapter or using another computer download the setup file/driver from the hardware manufacturer of your device and using a flash drive move it to the system you're working on and install the appropiate driver for your operating system.

Wireless device not detected after i did a recovery

Are you saying your wireless controller on your laptop/desktop cannot be detected?

I would check in Device Manager to see if the card is displayed.

1. Right Click on "MY COMPUTER" and select "PROPERTIES"
2. Go to the "HARDWARE" tab and select "DEVICE MANAGER"
3. Scroll down to "NETWORK ADAPTERS" and expand the component
4. Do you see your wireless network adapter? If so, does it have a "RED X" on it? You might need to enable it by right-clicking on it and selecting "ENABLE". If it has no "RED X" you might need to reinstall it using the original network drivers that came with your computer.
5. If you don't see your wireless network adapter do you see a "YELLOW QUESTION MARK"? If so, expand that to see if you see an unknown device that shows it's a network adapter. If so, you need to reinstall it using the original network drivers that came with your computer.
6. If you reinstalled your network drivers and still it's not working it's possible that the wireless adapter itself is better or you have some system related problem.

This is a preliminary set of troubleshooting steps. I would need to know the results of the above procedures and some additional information. Please let me know if I can assist any further.

Wireless Lan on HP Pavilion M1000

Surely you can find out if you have a wireless network card installed . For this you can goto device manager and under network adapters look for any wireless adapter.

Heres How you check device manager.
  • Right-click My Computer then select Properties
  • Select the Hardware tab
  • Click the Device Manager button
  • Alternative solution: invoke devmgmt.msc
  • Alternative solution #2: Device Manager is part of the Computer Management, which also includes Event Viewer, Services Manager, Disk Management, as well as many other things. Right-Click My Computer then select Manage to start Computer Management, or invoke compmgmt.msc.

Also I am not too sure about what system you are using and whats the operating system you are using.
