Soft keys only working intermittently - Samsung SGH-U600 Cellular Phone

I suggest downloading "Handy Soft Keys" or similar from the Android Market place.

Hi,

From the main menu screen, press Contacts [Right Soft key].
Press Options [Right Soft key].
Select a contact from the contacts list.
Press the Right Soft key for options.
Scroll to Manage Contacts, press OK
Select Erase, press OK.
Press Right Soft key to select all or select desired contacts to erase by pressing OK to mark each contact.
Press Left Soft Key for Done.
Display shows Erase Contacts?
Select Yes, press OK.

If this does not work, "Power the phone off for 30 minutes and then power it back on and try it again."

To change the PIN number on the phone,

1. Press Menu (left soft key)
2. Highlight Settings and press OK (left soft key)
3. Highlight Security and press OK (left soft key)
4. Highlight Change codes and press OK (left soft key)
5. Highlight PIN code and press OK (left soft key)
6. Enter your old PIN code then press OK (left soft key)
7. Enter your new PIN code then press OK (left soft key)
8. Repeat your new PIN code then press OK (left soft key).

If the problem is intermittent then the problem could just be foreign objects like crumbs and hair that's trapped under the keys.

Turn the laptop off and stand it on it's side with the lid open. Get a soft, dry paintbrush and brush the keys, gently tap the keyboard in various places with the back of the paintbrush to help dislodge anything that's trapped.

Once your satisfied all the keys are clear turn the laptop on and see if it has made any difference.

If it has not then you may need to replace the keyboard.

If you feel confident and competent enough, try taking your phone apart and giving the internals a good clean, take the white keypad PCB out and clean both it's contacts and the contacts on the phone's mainboard, and clear out any dust. Put the phone back together and see if that's solved the problem. It could also simply be that the keypad connector has worked loose

I would do a soft reset holding down Left Alt, Right Shift and Delete keys - simultaneously for a couple of seconds. That should clear anything that may be causing a memory issue...

Switching itself off... The above reset should resolve this, or show a bigger issue...


Crackling line though suggests a little more... Is this intermittent or on all calls?

The Motorola V3m has a light sensor, which is visible just above the right soft key -- the key above the CLR button. This light sensor turns the backlight on when you press a key in the dark and disables the keypad backlight when you are in a well-lit area.

Your phone sounds like it's operating normally. I believe they disabled the option to activate or deactivate that feature.

this prob is common in L6,L7,L9 and such phones. There is asender on right hand side near the soft key.dont put ur hand on it . The prob wil be solved
