Question about Amana Dryers

1 Answer

I have an Amana Elec. Dryer. Model # DLE 330 RAW that all of sudden quit heating. This dryer is about five years old. It has 7 cycles and 3 temp controls. Could this be a bad heat control switch or a heating element problem?

It could be a circuit breaker, fuse, or electrical problem. Just because the motor runs doesnt mean it will heat.

You should check for power first.

Then unplug the dryer remove the lower front panel, two screws.

Mark and label any wire you remove so you know where they go!

in the back on the left is the heating element, check for burnt wires, take the element out and check for a broken wire on the back side also check all the thermostats, and electrical components to make sure they are good.

Where is the heating element on a amana dle dryer

Depends on the model. Usually on the back lower left side under tub or right behind the tub in the top center. The frist location you remove the front panel to get to element and the second location the lid has to be raised up

No heat

Your problem is more than likely one of the following:

Severe noise - drum is jammed and won't turn - LG DLE-5977 dryer

A piece of clothing is probably caught in the blower wheel.
Remove lint filter.
Use flashlight to look into filter housing to the lower left.
You may be able to retrive the item if you can see it.
Try rotating the drum in both directions while looking.

Amana dryer dle330raw tenson on belt

Usually very simple. You need to get the diagram for our model. Most dryer belts go around the drum, around the tensioner pulley and around the motor pulley. You need to take off the front, top and rear panel depending on model. I can change mine in about 15 minutes complete job.

Maytag PYE3300AYW Elec Dryer Runs, But No Heat

hello kellygubser,
If you are sure the thermal switch is ok.. have you checked the high temp ( bi metal snap switch) too? Here is a link to the wiring diagram of your dryer. You can see that there are a few other temp switches in circuit of the heating element that would disble it.. Hope this helps

I have an Amana LEA30AW that is approximately 7 years old. It takes 2-3 cycles to dry. I have checked the voltage at the plug 240VAC L1-L2 and 120VAC L1 or L2 to Gnd. I cleaned the lint from the vent duct...

Ok your dryer is heating However it sounds like it is short cycling. Between the cylinder and Front and Rear bulkhead are seals. Take a bottom panel off the dryer and flash a light up at the seal area, while you are doing this look in the cylinder and see if you see lite, if you do this is were the air is leaking thru causing your dryer to short cycle.

Replace both the front and rear seals, is a real pain, take your time and you will do fine.

Amana gas dryer only heats first 20 minutes

Check your ducts that the heat blows out through. make sure there is no plug up in the dryer or in the ductwork.
You may have a problem with the termosensor or the high temp cut out safety switch/sensor. This sensor would be somewhere in the exhaust of the dryer.
