you would normally do this in the display settings either in control panel or by right clicking on desktop and Screen Resolution. The native resolution for this display is 1280 x 1024

It does sound like a bad monitor, but first! hook a spare monitor to the computer, if okay The Samsung SyncMaster is the problem, caused by the master board which is attached behind the LCD display, the video signals are feed to the main board where the colors are balanced. To repair this would not be cost effective "cheaper to buy new" Now! if the video cable from the computer to the monitor can be detached, sub another cable just to be sure. Finally if both monitors show the same issue, the problem is in the video graphics card of the computer.

If you right-click on the desktop and select 'properties' and go to the 'Settings' tab you will be able to use the slider to change your monitor resolution to 1280x1024.

If you then select the 'Advanced' tab you will see a setting somewhere which refers to the screen refresh rate. Change this to 60Hz.

This should give you the best picture settings on your monitor.

Try to adjust the refresh rate of the screen
Display settings / advanced settings / Monitor refresh rate (should be between 60-75hz I think)
