Yellow is constant battery source, red is switched for when the car is actually running (otherwise your radio would always come on and kill the battery),black is ground, blue is to power a amp and/or illumination, the rest, probably green, green w/black stripe, white, white w/black stripe, purple, purple w/black stripe, and gray, gray/black stripe are for speakers. Stripe is the negative. I dont know the which one is which exactly off the top of my head but u could hook each one up individually and hear which speaker comes on. I can't guarantee that every car is like that but I have put in a dozen or so radios in my time. Hope that helps

Car stereo wiring do it yourself. bare wires and fuses.

when installing a car stereo, always i repeat always tape up or put a connector on any and all wires. even if they are not used. you dont want any bare or naked wires flopping around. some of the wires may control the illumination or dash lights. you could mess up alot of stuff. also, make sure the right size fuse is used in your fuse box. if the fuse is supposed to be a 10 amp, put a 10 amp fuse in it. ive seen people use a larger amp fuse or take wire or tin foil and wrap it around a fuse to make it good again. this is one of the worst ideas to have. this could potentially burn down your vehicle. also, if you have an amplifier, or aftermarket fog lights, or anything extra on your battery. make sure you have it fused with the right amp rating fuse. failure to do so will most likely burn the wire, wiring harness, burn your vehicle.... bad idea. always use the right fuse.

Im trying to install a new stero in my car its a sony xsplode my car is toyota corolla gts what wires go to what the wireing harness that is on there now has wires connected to the wire harness that match...

Hi - unfortunatly you can forget colour coding as a means of connecting them as this rarely works. Autoleads sell adaptors to bridge for myour cars wiring look directly to the ISO connector from the Sont. Faining this a trace back or a Haynes manual will let you know what each wireof your loom is for and you sony manual shuld explain the harness
Good luck

Radio stolen from a peugeot 306 and all wires cut how can a new one be fitted

Well it all depends on how bad the wires were cut. If you bought a newer radio, they generally come with a harness. Basically a harness is a plug in with a bunch of cables running out the back of it. You can actually just connect the wires for the new radio straight to the wires from the car. A quick fix would just be to twist the wires together and put electrical tape around the bare wire showing.

I need to know which colour wire from the radio is for what, so i can fit a non standard stereo

My best advise is not to cut the stock wire harness plug. Go online or to your local best buy and buy a wiring harness that will plug into your stock plug and into the radio. then you don't need to know what any wires are. cutting the stock harness is opening a can of worms.

Trying to put a new stereo in my holden astra 1989 but the colours on my deck do not match the original colours on car stereo

you should try trial and error, for example test the wires on your car with a power tester and find your power when you do hook it up tp the power wire on your car. after you get the stereo turned on you test your speaker wires with the right & left functions on your stereo and the front and back functions on it untill you figure out wich go,s to wich.

I need step by step on how to connect a stereo to my 2001 f-150

radio wires red= key live yellow=battery live. black= grd. The rest are speakers. totalling 8 (others are illumination normally orange. blue and white is aerial antenna. not required) Car colours all vary. Advise getting tester. to test for lives. Check key live by turning on and off key while testing lives. ground is normally always black. Lives are normally alot thicker than rest of wires as is ground. once lives connected you can test speakers by balancing left and right fade rear and front to connect these. As for + - on a loom these are normally hard to distinguish as a speaker can run in reverse. in just sounds alot better when ran properly. But each pair are normally the same colour although one will have a different colour line running down it. Chek out this site for car wiring colours. http://www.caraudiohelp.com/car_alarm_install_guides/car_alarm_install_guides.htm
