Possible to change default scan setting to PDF?

Is it possible to change the default scan setting from JPG to PDF? Nobody in our office scans to JPGs, yet that is the default setting. Is there anyway to change the default so it automatically scans to PDF, instead of having to go into the scan settings menu every time we scan?

Go into the utility screen, log in under administrator mode and there you will find scan settings.

Even better is to log in via the Web Portal, type in ther IP address of the machine in your browser.
Once the page comes up, select "log out" and then re-log-in as the Admin. From there you can also set the default file type. It is quite a bit easier than trying to navigate the menus from the panel.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Hello. we have a Dell 3115 multi function machine. it automatically saves scanned documents as a pdf...can the setting be changed to save as a word document?

Scanners can only create JPG and PDF files by default. If you get a program such as FineReader, then you can convert those files into Word documents. That's your best bet.

Scanning Multiple pages into one pdf

Scanning a multi-page document as a .pdf file reverts the settings for rotation, selected area, etc. to default for any pages after the first page. This applies to Mac OSX 10.3, 10.4, & 10.5. A simple, but tedious work-around is to scan each page as a separate file and easily recombine them using OSX Preview. Just open the first page, view the Sidebar, and drag-drop the additional page files into the sidebar. Save and it's all one multi-page .pdf.

Bizhub 250 Scan to searchable pdf

This copier scans as an image. The contents of this file are not searchable. The output type (as default) can be set by logging into the web interface of the machine. As for one- touches that are allready setup as tif, you would need to edit the one touch parameters to set the device to PDF. (image only)

Try just using the epson scan utility

1. Launch Epson Scan by going into your HARD DRIVE, APPLICATIONS, and EPSON SCAN.
2. If prompted, select your scanner from the list of models and click OK.
3. In the FILE SAVE SETTINGS window, you can designate the location, name and type of file the scans will be saved as.

-LOCATION defaults to HD/USERS/(YOUR USER NAME)/PICTURES. Click CHOOSE if you wish to change this.
-PREFIX determines how the scan will be named. Type any name you like. You can also designate a start number.
-FILE TYPE dictates what format the scans will be saved in. ie. .JPG, .TIFF, .PDF, or .PICT)
-For example: if the prefix is "img", the start number is "1", and the format is "JPG", the name of the file saved in
PICTURES will be "IMG001.JPG"
4. Click OK once settings are changed as desired.
5. The EPSON SCAN window will open and begin scanning in FULL AUTO MODE. In FULL AUTO MODE the software makes all the decisions for you (as to what is being scanned, where it is on the flatbed, etc). This is the easiest way to scan.
6. If you want full control over the scanning process click PAUSE and change FULL AUTO MODE to HOME MODE or PROFESSIONAL MODE. In the latter two modes you can change your scan settings as desired. Click SCAN after you have selected your settings. Click CLOSE once the EPSON SCAN is finished scanning.
7. When scanning is complete, your images will be saved in the location specified on FILE SAVE SETTINGS, with the prefix and in the format you set.

HP 85gxi - How to scan to PDF?

My "work around" is to use a pdf creater like cutepdf (downloadable freeware). I "printed" the scaned JPGs to cutePDF and saved the output pdf. I also learned to specify the output DPI as 150 instead of the default 600 DPI to get the file a little more reasonable size.

It would be nice if it would scan directly to a PDF.

Insignia digital photo frame won't recognize some .jpgs

When you save in Photoshop make sure you select "Baseline ("Standard") on the JPEG options when you save. That should fix the problem for you. It did the trick for My Kodak SV710 digital frame which wasn't displaying images I had edited in photoshop.
