You don't need to replace the waste ink pads if you are willing to consider an external waste ink kit.

The RX700 is much like the R300 and any number of printers so this guide should be useful for identifying the trapdoor. Once in you'll notice there's TWO waste tubes and these would need to be extended out of the printer into a suitable container.

There are kits commercially available to handle this so if you want a minimal hassle system with support I'd recommend asking around for kits for the R2400 or R1800 as they'll have the two connectors or tubes required.

Hope that helps...

This does not answer how to replace waste ink pads, how to find a source or part number for your model of printer.

You'll probably find that that the print head is worn out (according to Epson) and it needs to be replaced. It's cheaper to buy a new printer.

My printer is epson tx650.the problomis that it say 'the printer's ink pad is at the end of their service life'. please assist me with the solution.says RAKITA

Sadly the other solution is the usual corporate party line regarding "Parts at the end of their service life" and is intended to encourage printer owners to purchase new printers.

The reality is quite different.. Epson printer are generally capable of upwards of 3 to 10 years or service with minimal care unless the printer is being hammered 24/7 with almost constant printing, which is very unlikely.

Waste pads however are an achilles heel that do need some form of action to either replace or work-around to resolve.

The options available are either:
1. Go to a service centre where it is indeed prohibitively expensive to have the printer disassembled to replace the pads and have the waste counter reset.

OR..

2. Get an external waste ink kit to redirect any waste ink to an external tank (it doesn't remove the current pad contents) and obtain the relevant tool (either a compatible AdjProg service program) or WICReset tool with a key (one needed per reset) so you can reset the printers internal waste ink counter.

The cost of the latter option is around 20-25(GPB) total (including shipping) so compared to the tooth sucking Epson Customer "Care" option it's not exactly rocket science as to which is more cost effective.

Please ignore the rubbish about other parts being near the end of their service life... About the only other thing to note is that the printer gears might need a little grease but beyond that and flimsy plastic paper guides the printer can easily last 5 years with a little care.

End of service life error message epson inkjet printer RX700

This refers to the internal counter, actually located in the software on the computer determing that your waste ink pads are likely saturated and need replacement. You can download software from either Epson at http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp or at http://www.ssclg.com/download/sscserve.exe. Both of these software packages will allow resetting the counter. However one should either take the printer in to an authorized Epson or independent printer service company or if comfortable with messing around inside computers and peripherals, one can check the waste ink pad(s). On the RX700 there is a small access panel, on the back of the unit, on the left hand side when facing the back of the RX700. It is held in place with a Phillips head screw and small plastic latch tab on its bottom side. The pad material is clearly visible from here, with a pair of clear plastic waste ink tubes directed down into this waste ink receptacle. If this is saturated, wet and discolored, it should be replaced, before resetting the counter. Not doing so risks the excess waste ink overflowing and making a mess and possibly even shorting out some of the circuitry.

Epson stylus photo rx685 the problem is, waste ink pad in the printer is saturated, I have removed all the wested ink in the priter, but is the same problem that am experiencing. Please help me solve this...

go to www.octoinkjet.co.uk/wib/ to download one of their inkjet ink pad reset utilities. It may just solve your problem. I couldn't clean or replace the ink pads on my epson RX700, so I bought their special adaptor kit. It solved the problem for me. If you already have cleaned the ink pads, maybe you can just download the reset utility. I hope it works for you.

Epson RX700 printer, end of service life message

This usually means that the waste ink absorbers are full. If your printer is under warranty, you can get them dealt with and the counter reset at an Epson Customer Care center. If your printer is out of warranty, you should consider if it is worth the fix. You can get this done by Epson or an independent printer repair person. (They might sell the parts for a dyi job.)

Once that is done, you can get a reset utility from the following URL: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp . If you execute the reset without the pad replacement, you will get ink smearing on your documents after a while.

I hope this helps.

Blinking alternately or not? If alternately, see status monitor. It may be end life service (waste ink pad full). Reset waste ink counter using Rx700 adjusment program. If not, it may be a general error.

This is a standard problem for all Epsons sooner or later.

Your options are simple:

1. Take it to an official Epson service center and pay rather a lot of money to have the waste ink pads changed

or

2. Locate the SSC utility here:
http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml
.. install and then follow the instructions for resetting and clearing the protection counter settings.

You will still need to decide what to do about redirecting your waste ink but there are plenty of resources for that if you look around google using the keywords: "epson waste ink kit"

Whatever you do, don't ignore the waste ink as it will overflow eventually.

Hope that helps.

The same instructions available all over the internet for the R300 should suffice for the RX500...

In terms of resetting the waste ink counter, the SSC utility will provide the necessary compatibility as well...
