Question about HP Compaq Evo n610c Notebook

1 Answer

Print screen Since i have a second hand evo n610c laptop without a user guide, the suggestion to press Print Screen did not solve my problem as nothing happens. I tried adding all the other keys as in alt gr+pr scr etc. but still no result. The key has, like the others surrounding it, two functions on it and the highlighted function will not function. Perhaps the keyboard language? It's set to american english. Kind greetings for a kind solution! anna, netherlands

i am trying to use the print screen key (prt sc) which shares its' function with the insert, on the compaq evo n610c. they are situated to the top right of the key board, six smaller keys alltogether.

    thanks for your reply, anna

You have to hold down the FN (function) key in the lower left corner of the keyboard, for example press fn+alt+prt scr(insert) simultaneously to capture the current window into the clipboard.

This is HP Support, and the Manuals page for the Compaq Evo N610C Notebook PC,

This manual is in PDF file form. The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which utilizes PDF files.

After you click on the above link, it may take up to 30 seconds before the first page of the manual pops up. (Only took approximately 12 seconds for me just now)

It may also take additional time for the file to fully download.

If you scroll down the page to the - Service and maintenance information - heading, and click on the last file listed you will have a Service Manual.

Disconnect the power cable from the Notebook and then remove the Battery pack. While the Battery pack is removed, press and hold the power button on the Notebook for 15 seconds.

Next, reinsert the Battery pack and connect the power cord to the Notebook and turn it ON. While the Computer is booting, you can view the information on the bottom of the screen to get to the Setup Screen.

Wont boot up

try removing all cables connected to your tower, (including power cable, mouse, keyboard, VGA cable, scanner, printer, camera etc.)- then press the power button for at least 5 seconds, this is what we call POWER DRAIN, then try booting up your system again, if still unresolved, power off your tower, then open up your chassis, reseat the cables of your HARD DISK -- try again. if still unsolved, try entering the BIOS, check if the HARD DISK is detected..

Blue Screen of death

According to this link, the memory of Compaq Evo N610c can be upgradable to 1024 mb.

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11382_div/11382_div.HTML

Memory Upgrade for Compaq Evo N610C, the Compaq Evo N610C takes the PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMMs Memory Type, and comes installed with of Memory. You can upgrade your Compaq Evo N610C to up to a maximum of 1.0 GB Memory, the system has 2 sockets to install Memory, already with standard Memory installed. For best system performance use the maximum amount of allowed Memory per slot for your system. (Souce: http://www.memorystock.com/memory/CompaqEvoN610C.html)

So you have to install 512mb memory module on each slot to make up 1024mb of memory.

Did you install 512mb memory module on each slot or did you just install 1GB memory module in one slot?

Try to go back to 256mb RAM and see if you will have the same blue screen error. If you did not receive any blue screen, try to add memory into it or just insert 512mb first and then oserve again if you will have the blue screen error.

You may also want to go to these links for other suggestions.
