I have the same problems as darlene240. I checked the Brother web site support area, and they instructed me to attempt to reset my typewriter, or purchase a new daisy wheel. I plan to purchase the kit available at Staples.com, order number 681042. If this solves my problem I'll let you know.

Hammer sticking and typing incorrect letters (and or skipping letters): 1) make sure daisy wheel installed correctly (remove and re-install). 2) hold down CODE key & Q (RESET) to reset wheel...if still not corrected 3) WD40 the hammer at the base & joints where moving parts are, keep typing until oil seeps in (this last one fixed it for me)

Typing light and inconsistant-top part of letter okay but bottom too light or not there: to left of hammer (at base) are 2 screws, I losened them and adjusted hammer to different forward and backward spots..finally found the ideal location where full letter printed and had the correct force it needed to print correctly.

I downloaded the manual from http://www.devicemanuals.com/downloadguide.php and then, following the instructions there, I removed then re-inserted the daisy wheel. This solved my problem. Perhaps it had somehow gotten out of adjustment. At least, it is something to try if you haven't tried it already.

I began using my typewriter this morning...and when I press a number or letter...it types the wrong number, letter, or symbol. For example, I press the letter "F" and it types a number...

Turn it off and on it should go thru it's dance and rehome the print wheel. f you are notin KBII , language mode or the print wheel damaged the homing pawl for the P/W is probably broken you need a tech.

When typing wrong letters and numbers type

You might have a "proportional space" printwheel but the pitch selector is on 10, 12, or 15 instead of PS. OR it is on PS but you have a normal print wheel. Try selecting different pitches. Another thing that causes that problem is sometimes the ribbon or correction tape gets caught in the printwheel.

Letters and numbers not printing correctly

It sounds like you have a damaged printwheel. Get a new one and try it.

Erronous letters or numbers

Under the ribbon there is a motor that drives the print wheel try to get some light oil on the front and rear bearings (wd 40 usally works well) its a little hard to get to the rear one.

hope this helps
