Manufacturers of DVDs and DVD players install codes that only allow us to play DVDs that are manufactured for our region. (For example, the U.S. and Canada are region 1, while China is region 6.) To make your DVD player region-free, you'll need to find the unlock codes that will allow it to play DVDs from all over the world. Below are some steps to help make your DVD player region-free.
Purchase or borrow an imported DVD. The only real reason to make your DVD player region-free is if you plan on watching imported DVDs. Locate your DVD player's brand name and model number. These can usually be found on the box the DVD player came in, or on a sticker close to the video inputs or on the bottom of the DVD player. Have your remote handy. You will need your remote to enter the input codes into your DVD player. Locate a Web site that can help you with the codes you need for your particular DVD player, since all DVD players have different codes. Try DVD Exploder or Video Help (see Resources below). Both have an extensive list of codes for almost every kind of DVD player manufactured. Enter your brand name and model number when prompted to do so on the Web site. If your particular model number is not available, try searching under the brand name. Sometimes you will be able to find a model number that is close to your DVD player's model number. Enter the codes into your DVD player with your remote. Be sure the DVD player's door is open-almost all codes require the door to be open. Test your imported DVD to see if it works, once you have entered your code into the DVD player.

Find the unlock code for your Sony DVD player model. The DVD
Demystifiziert and Video Help websites both provide unlock codes for
Sony players that can be unlocked and made region-free. To view the code
for your DVD player, click on the model of your DVD player in the Sony
hack list on the website.
2
Perform the tasks included in the unlock code. For most Sony
models that can be unlocked, the unlock code is not as simple as
pressing a few buttons. You may need to open the tray on the player or
power the unit on and off multiple times as part of the hack.
3
Turn the unit off and then on again after you have entered
your unlock code, even if the code doesn't include this step. Once you
power the unit back on, it should be region-free and should be able to
read any DVD that you insert in the tray.
I'm sorry for the difficulties you're experiencing in playing other region disc in the RCA Portable DVD player. Please follow the below steps to unlock the region code and check the operation:
Turn on the player without any disc inside
Enter the code "321 789 456" before the player menu appears
Select 'all' in the appearing list for region free
Turn the player off
Thanks for understanding. Please let me know the result after performing the steps. Also let me know if you require further assistance.

NOTE: Not all Sony players can be unlocked to be region-free. According to the DVD Demystifiziert page, no unlock codes are available for Sony models DVP-NC85H, DVX-11A, SLV-D980P and SLV-D500P.
Keep in mind that unlocking a Sony DVD player almost always voids the unit's warranty.
If you are wondering the reason why DVD players are locked/region specific and which region of the world you are in visit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dvd_regions
Can't give you the exact code as you have not specified the DVD model.
Option 1) go to: http://www.dvddemystifiziert.de/codefree_en/magnavox.html If your DVD player model isn't there choose option 2 below:
Option 2) The following link will lead you to a site with different Magnavox DVD player models and the corresponding codes.
http://www.multi-region.net/magnavox
if the code starts with "REGION FREE ONLY FIRMWARE UPGRADE MODE" you will need to find, download and burn to disc the firmware for your dvd player and follow the instructions.
Firmware is the program that tells DVDs what to do and not what to do.
