Question about Vizio P4 46 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television

Vizio plasma tv turned off..won;t turn back on

Our tv, which is 1 week old, just turned off by itself and we can't get it to turn back on by remote or by pushing the on button manually. There is power because the cable box is on along with the stereo which is hooked up to the same outlet. It is not the cable because the tv's in other rooms are working.

I have what sounds to be the same exact problem. After only 2 months of owning the the unit, it randomly shut off and will not turn back on. It does have power because the VISIO emblem located at the base of the tv is lit up in its usual orange glow, but the tv refuses to turn on. The only difference is that I have a 42 inch model. Just out of curiosity, is this is a typical problem for the manufacturer, or is there a typical usage issue that causes it? Floating voltages or powere surges maybe?

Same exact problem as the prior post with a 42 inch plasma. Owned the machine nearly two months to the day, shut it off on a sunday AM, Sunday PM, the unit will not power up. Unit is getting power, as the Vizio name plate is orange, but it will not power up.

Pretty obvious Vizio has an issue with their power supplies.

I think our main power board went bad. Please advise. Thank you.

My 26" Vizio is doing the same thing.

I found that if I un plug it and wait a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on with the power buton on the TV it will come on. The remote will operate the tv then.Only when it is off for a long period of time do I have a problem, but I think it will only get worse. I have E-mailed Vizio Tech support with this problem. No answer so far.

I own a Vizio P4 46" Plasma and after one and half years last week end I encountered the same problem with the power source(turned off and does not turn back on, despite the power light indicating green). I contacted Vizio and the out of warranty center and they are slow in responding. Should I contact a local repair person? or is this something I can fix on my own? If so, how difficult would it be and how expensive?

i did have mine for more than a month and same darn thing happened to it, **** i whent to wal mart and they've got one on the display stand that wont power on either

  • mommacosta Apr 18, 2009

Just last week I experienced the same problem. My family and I were watching tv when it just turned itself off and will not turn on. Its as if its unplugged. We have tried all the trouble solutions and still no power. So i decided to call the repair center, since its still under warranty, and have had nothing but troubles dealing with the representatives. I have given them all they ask for and still have had no luck. At this point I just want to pay to have it fixed or repair it myself. If anyone knows how please let me know. In the mean time I have a 1200.00 paper weight in my living room.

I have a vizio VP422. It turned off by itself and won't turn back on. The yellow/orange VIZIO logo is lit up but the TV won't turn on.

I turned the TV off and when I went to turn it back on a few hours later it wouldn't turn on. The orange light is lit up but nothing works.

This sounds like the main power board went bad. If this is still under warranty, contact 1-877-MYVIZIO and they will have it repaired for you. if not, let me know and I will guide you to the right part.

I want to share this with you guy whose having problem with their Vizion TV. I have the same problem with you my Vizio TV died after two years, called up ITI and HD repair which Vizio recommends they are charging around $275 and NO WAY I WOULD PAY THAT. After reading all the blogs, I guy posted that be replaced the capacitor on the power supply, I opened my TV found out that 2 capacitor were pop-out, I order capacitor at digi-key it cost me around $4 and $1 soldering iron at Dollar store. After removing the bad capacitors, I was surprised the TV is working again for the cost around $5.

Volume turns up by itself

This might be a remote control issue, so try this: remove the batteries from your remote, then press all of its buttons and install new batteries. If the problem persists after that, your TV may require repairs. Service can be obtained, if needed, by carrying your TV in to the place of purchase.

Hello,

Turn your TV on by pushing either the power button on the front of the TV or the power button on the remote control, which is located in the upper right corner of the remote.

Step 2
Press and hold the "up arrow" button on the remote control. The up arrow button is located in the middle of the remote, to the left of the "Input" button and below the "Picture" button.

Step 3
Press the power button on the TV while still holding down the up arrow button. The TV will turn off and then turn itself back on.

Step 4
Release the up arrow button. Once the TV turns itself back on, it will restore your TV to its factory settings.

Hope this helpout.......

TV won't turn on even though it starts green, then goes off

Although my tv still does the "turn green and turn off" thing, I simply unplugged and repluggd the tv. After I did that, I pushed the "ON" button on the tv itself, unplugging and replugging the tv until it finally came on. I think the "instant warm-up" switch is going out.

My Hisense lcd is lock.

This is how I got mine to work after weeks of struggling just trying to find a new remote (hisense is really hard to contact....).
1) Turn the TV ON. unplug the tv while still ON 2) hold down the "menu" button on the side of the TV and plug it back in. keep holding it down. the TV should turn on with the menu popping up. use the Vol <> keys and Channel <> keys to navigate the menu. go to the Vchip menu, and play around. I'm not sure what ultimately worked, but i changed the Vchip password to 1111, turned the reset menu to "on" and played around with the ratings settings (turning most of them to "u"s etc).
I went through this process several times and finally, the black background behind the menu turned to static. I played around with the channels, and the TV was unlocked. I turned the TV off, and then on again, and the channels showed up normally (no static). and it was no longer locked. I had to do the unplug thing several times, and was getting really frustrated looking for an "unlock code" in the manual (it just says press the button on the remote. so it was not really helpful).
But really, once you can just get to that menu you've made some progress, and just keep playing around with it until something works.
Best of luck!!

This set has a modification that needs to be done. It will also start turning on by itself and changing channels rapidly. It's two weeks old. Take it back to the Retailer or if that is not an option contact LG at 1-800-243-0000 to get a local servicer in your area.
