Question about Printers & Copiers

Xerox XC1045 The toner light came on. I put a new cartridge in and the toner light stayed on after and it won't copy. I tried turning it off and even unplugged it thinking it may need to reset. No luck. Please help! This is the model number.

To Rest the Drum:
*Turn ON the copier and within 4 seconds press clear, toner select, clear, toner select
*screen will go blank
*enter "24" in the number of copies
*enter "07" in the number of copies
*turn off the copier and then turn it on again.

I have a Xerox XC820. I am getting dark copies with residual images from previous copies. Toner appears to be adhering to the drum cartridge. Do I need a new drum cartridge?


I have a Xerox xc820. The drum kit needed to be replaced, which I did as well as put in a new toner cartridge. The pages are now coming out very dark. Prior to putting in the new drum kit and new toner cartridge, the machine ran fine. I have tried all I know how to do and to no avail. Have cleaned the "wire", all the parts I can get to and cleaned the plate. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a Xerox Copier XC1045. Our copies are coming out with dark spot on the paper., I change the drum, but still have same problem, even big area has black spot


You may have a worn out heat roller in the fuser.
It is also likely you have a bad toner cartridge . If the spots are gritty then replace the toner cartridge and vacuum out the machine,

That isnt unusual. The 8000 pages is for a page with 5 percent coverage area, or a rather short letter.
the 3600 to 4000 pages is not out of the ordinary for that machine, Although the xerox brand may work better, although not more copies, if you run pages with more than 5 percent of the page printed, that is about right.
Also there is no chip on a 4118 cartridge. The toner is monitored by a sensor and window in the middle of the cartridge. It shines light through the cartridge, and when the cartridge is empty the light actuates a light activated sensor.
it is not an efficient machine.

Can Xerox Phaser 6280 be refilled by Consumers?


The 6280 uses a specially designed toner called Emulsion Aggregation toner. This is a special type of toner made by Xerox. Sice it is so new and patents exist, I doubt that anyone can legally make the toner, even if they posessed the equipment and the expertis. Refilling with non-EA toner is asking for big trouble.

Copier too dark


Did you clean the lens and the mirror under the lens cover? If so, There is a VR behind the front cover of most small Xerox machines. One VR makes the image darker/lighter and one VR changes the lead edge registration.

That sounds like your toner is empty. Sometimes that cartridge runs out or low on ink and just doesn't display.
What is happening is the density sensor is looking for a nice black patch and the patch it is looking for is gray or almost blank and it stays in a constant cycle of trying to make that ink patch dark enough to produce a copy,
I would try a new toner.

ave you tried shaking the cartridge vigorously from side to side?
The ink may be compacted in one end of the cartridge from storage.

After replacing the toner cartridge you did remove the plastic strip that holds the toner in place?? If you did, on the control panel is a little sunken black button. Just take a pen or then object and hold the button down until the light goes off. This can take up to ten minutes to go off.
