Question about NetGear Computers & Internet
I have a Gateway Vista laptop, HP Vista desk top connected to the modem and router, and Gateway Windows XP on two other desk top computers.
How do I set up a wireless network with these four?
Assuming they all will work with the version of wireless the netgear works with (802.11a/b/g) then you really just need to enable the wireless network on the netgear and choose how you want to protect it. I recommend using WPA or WPA2 if all your devices will support it - this depends on the wireless cards in all your pc's - just set up a name for the wireless network (not recommended that you use the default because everyone does) set up your WPA/WPA2 passphrase on the netgear and it should be pretty much ready to go. On each pc then, once they are able to see the wireless network with the unique name you gave it, just hit connect in your wireless settings and enter the passphrase. Each pc should be set up.
The only other thing to consider is to make sure they are all using DHCP via the wireless router or, if you prefer setting up their IP addresses manuall, make sure none of them conflict with eachother (each one needs to be unique).
