I have lost the instalation disc for my hp scanjet 2200c scanner what can i do now also will it install on windows 7

The only solution to your issue is a workaround :
solution one :
If you have the W XP install disc , you can install a virtual version of W XP on your machine from http://www.vmware.com/products/player/
solution two:
If you still have the install disc , you can also partition your primary and install W XP on the new partition from http://download.cnet.com/Partition-Wizard-Home-Edition/3000-2094_4-10962200.html.
Back up your data first.
solution three :
I have Win 7 on my primary and installed Win XP on my secundary . Works like a charm .
Otherwise , your device is good for the trash bin .

That one does not support windows 7 but you can install the driver for xp and it might work first uninstal all drivers for the scanner do this go to systems and hardware remove all the old drivers and then install the driver that is most recent like xp or vista,

There are no more drivers under W7 for this unit .
If you have W XP install disc , you can install a virtual version of XP on your HDD .
You also can create a partition on your HDD where you can install XP .
Otherwise , i' m afraid you'll need to buy a new scanner .

if you are actually talking about 5470c and not 2200c , here are a few hints :

Here are a few hints :

Make sure driver XP ( yes , XP ) is correctly installed . Then , go to http://download.cnet.com/FreeKapture/3000-2094_4-10673689.html and install FreeKapture , it's free .
Load FreeKapture , clic on Scan and select WIA Hewlett-Packard . Scanner works fine in this mode . If you choose HP PrecisionScan Pro , program will hang .
In any case , no slides or negatives scans possible but the rest works .
If you have the W XP install disc , you could install a virtual version of W XP on your HDD ( http://downloads.vmware.com/d/info/desktop_downloads/vmware_player/3_0 ) You could also partition your HDD ( http://www.partitionwizard.com/free-partition-manager.html ) and install W XP on the new one . Otherwise , you will have to buy a new scanner , what you probably already have done .

HP does not have a driver for this scanner with either Vista or Windows 7. One workaround is available in Windows 7 Pro or Ultimate. You can set up the XP mode and install the scanner within the virtual computer. Scanned files may need to be put on an external drive to transfer them between the two "computers".
