I use the background eraser tool and erase the background of an image. I try to put the part i didnt erase on top of another picture but when i put it on there, the part I erased appears white instead of transparent. Can someone please help me?

Good Samaritan, maybe. Geek who would like to give back because people helped me when I started, for sure...

What do you want to do - superimpose one photo on another? Maybe cut and paste pieces of photos together?

Give me a little info, and I'll help if I can...

Thanks Stephen,

First, make sure the photo you're working with isn't "read only"!

Without seeing the photos you're having trouble with, it's hard to come up with an exact reason they won't let you edit. If you wanted to email one to me, I could try it on my machine. Add "@gmail.com" to my name...

Here's a good, free tutorial that is broken down by common tasks:

http://www.webworksite.com/photoshop_elements_tutorials.shtml

You can google for "photoshop elements tutorials" to find more. Just stay away from the idiots trying to sell you info you can get for free.

My favorite Photoshop site is this one. It's a bit strange, don't freak out. Much of what he shows will help you understand PSE as well. Check it out for the entertainment value if nothing else.

I'll continue to you out as best I can - don't give up!

By the way, if I am being of any service (don't ask my wife...) please rate the solution - my "reputation rating" is based on feedback in offering solutions.

Thanks,

Airoff (Alan)
