Just because a part is new doesn't always mean it's good. A little more history/ info here would help, but you can do a simple test to see if your alternator is working. Disconect one cable (either one) from the battery and charge it on more time. Reconnect it to start the engine, and then disconect it with the engine running. If the engine stays running with the battery disconected the alternator is working. It is possible that you new battery is shorted internaly If you suspect this might be the case take it back to where you got it and have them check it.

I'm driving a chevrolet aveo 2010 . In the middle of no where last night it went dim than to dark. It was runing ok this all time. Only sign shown was the engine. Didn't show any sign of battery.

well the battery is now dead (or only discharged !)
cause #1 ALT/Gen replaces WRONG, see here 10,000 times. more www.

driving a car the ALTERNATOR produces all Electrical power.
100amps x 13v is 1300watts, and runs ALL>
when it dies the battery is sucked dry/dead/ discharged.

1; remove neg lug from battery or BOOM (100amp fuse BLOWN)
2; remove ALT
3: new one back connected same.
4: battery NEG lug back
bingo no BOOM.!
every SM manual of every car tells that;.

you said didn't want to start
but I guess you meant starter is dead, or clicks only or will not spin fast as it must.

the 15mins is dead accurate, for 50 years driving seen this happen
as ALT goes dead at night,
in the day engine runs 30min to 1hour dead ALT , HEADS off

the blow fuse is just bay fuse
or worse, a fuseable link, oddity not fun to fix. ever.
thus step 1,

no engine told but let me look on uSA car thjis.
2010 not AVEO5

there it is but what it looks like, hummmmmm

Battery light has been coming on & off dashboard now it's starting to not want to start(crank)

That battery lamp is really named wrong, it is the Alternator (gen) lamp, and if it glows, most times the ALT is bad
or fuses blown. 3 fuses, #1 ,#2 fuse and # alt-s,,
this makes the battery go dead, parked or driving. dead ALT.
so , charge the battery first using a thing called a battery chargers.
if that sounds hard, tow the car to any ASE shop to fix it.
walmart does batteries new but never do the do alternators. new.
see? only real shops do it all. end to end.

The whole car runs off that Alternator, (gen) if bad the battery goes dead fast, even in 1 hours driving, and then car stalls or you
key off and the starter can not crank the engine now, that the battery is mostly discharged.
to start the car a jumper cable start up will work but we see removing the cables the engine stalls that is a dead alternator
the car the lamp glowing is called CHARGE lamp, and is wired directly to the ALTERATOR pin B4 AND WHEN GLOWS
  • ALT IS BAD,
  • 3 FUSES TO ALT ARE BAD.
  • OR BELT DRIVING ALT IS LOOSE OR SLIPPING ETC.
pin b3 is ECU controls of ALT.

How do I find a electrical short changed the battery and still goes dead

When does it go dead ? Over night , while driving ? Two different diagnostic's ! If it goes dead while driving the alternator is not charging the battery . If it goes dead over night there is a parasitic drain on the battery , something is on , using current . You don't say what make , model and year vehicle but most all vehicles from the mid 80's on have a number of control modules (computers ) . They power down after a set amount of time , an sometimes they don't power down . There are videos on youtube showing how to find a key off power drain .

Battery goes dead not all the time but sometimes about 2-3 weeks ,new battery have tried 2 batterys

Have the charging system checked out.... Possibly you have an intermittent connection from the Alternator, or a possible bad alternator.

Battery light comes on and off then kills my car

might be due to the battery being bad and may need replacement but if the battery is holding a charge then it might be due to a short out in some place

My mother has a 2006 LS 430 Lexus with only 5500 miles. The battery dying is a constant issue. She goes to start the car and it is dead. She has replaced the battery three times. No electrics are left on....

It sounds like the Alternator is bad or isn't charging teh battery completely. Or if this is the same station that has been selling her batteries they have a bad batch of weak batteries. Have the battery tested for dead cells. If there are none then put it on a charge and fully charge it and test the alternator. Auto zone can test both and will do so for free but you will have to remove the alternator for testing.

I brought a brand new battery and dorve the car for one day. The nexy day I cranked up my car and the battery was dead.

Have your alternator checked and at the same time have the battery checked at your local Auto Zone or O'Reilly auto parts store. Or auto parts store similar to one of those. Sometimes when your battery goes dead it tends to wreak havoc on the alternator which can cause the battery to not hold its charge.

My lexus E350 battery goes dead if car is not used for a week. Had the battery checked with dealer says it is OK

This has happened to me TWICE in the past 4 months. I had Lexus road side service come out both times to check the car out. Each time the battery was totally dead. The road side mechanic said that if the car is not driven at least 15 minutes nonstop a day, the battery runs dead as there are so many draws from the car on the battery. If you do alot of stop and start driving like I do, that isn't enough to recharge the cell of the battery, it must be non stop driving time. Recommend that I get a 1.5 tricky charge device an hook to battery at least one night a week to keep the battery charged. This is really frustrating with such a new car. I've spoken to other owners of other model luxury cars and no one has had this problem.
