I'm having the same problem, too. My sister dropped it in the bathtub, and then turned on the power without letting it dry. The DS still turns on and hold charges, but the screens are messed up with flickers and blurs.
As I know, if you drop it in the water, do not turn on the power or it will be fried. Just let it dry, and then power up again to see if it still works. If you already turned on the power while there was still water in it, it's toasted.

DS wont reecognize any nintendo games. It can see

Hello,

Don't know if you found an answer to your problem. This has happened twice to my grandson's DS. The problem is most likely a buildup of dirt, on the contacts of the game console itself or the game cartridges.

What you need to do is to purchase some good contact cleaner at an electronics store (Radio Shack) and a small wire brush. make sure the cleaner says "Non-conducting".

Spray the contact cleaner liberally on the gold contacts of the game cartridges and gently brush down. You need to repeat this a few times because the cleaner evaporates very quickly.

After doing that, use the small nozzle and spray some directly in the game slot on to the contacts. Then quickly take a game cartridge and insert it about 10 to 15 times. You may also have to repeat this once or twice. After that insert the game and turn on the DS.

I just finished doing about 8 games for my grandson. It takes a little time but it does work.

Note: Do not attempt to insert the brush inside the game console. You may damage the contacts. Only use the brush on the game cartridges.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Here's the manufacturer's manual: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/downloads/ds_english.pdf just download it.

Some beginner tips: http://www.mrbass.org/nintendoDS/

I would call nintendo to see if they could fix this as it may be under warranty, otherwise, you may need to pay to fix this.

Nintendo DS Lite dropped in puddle breifly, speakers don't work

Well you do know the ribbon cable that connects the two screens is in the left hinge right? You will need to get it repaired eventualy. You many need to check if the ribbon cable is damaged in any way, if it is you will need to repair it or get it repaired. If you choose to do it yourself i'de suggest following this guide. Good Luck!

Nintendo ds lite wont turn back on

Not sure if this will help you, but my son dropped his on to a concrete pavement and it wen black, the charge lite would only come up for one second then go out when I plugged it in to charge. Just for fun, I had a spare battery and changed it. In this instance, the system started working again.

Not sure how this can happen, but dropping it on the floor seems to have killed the battery that was in it. A simple replacement battery did the trick for me.

Good Luck in fixing yours
