New geforce 9500gt video not working on my windows xp emachines c6423. I uninstalled original drivers and disabled onboard nividia 6100 through device manager and bios. Then loaded new 9500 GT drivers but still get no pic with new card even after restart and several redos. Keeps defaulting to old card. Is it not compatible and if not which nvidia card should I get?

SOURCE: I would like to upgrade my emachines t6528 pc with

First you need to make sure that motherboard has a PCI-Express slot

If it has that then you will be able to upgrade to any card you want willing your power supply has enough wattage to fuel the card

Most higher end video cards need 450W power supply's to operate without problems

If you meet both of those requirements then your good to go :)

this appears to be related in the BIOS. try to update the BIOS and disable the onboard video card from there if an option is available, then install the video card again and install the latest video driver for it compatible with your operating system

Graphics not displaying properly

Yes left click on start, right click on computer, left click on properties, left click on hardware/device manager, click on the plus sign next to display adapters, select nividia 6100, right click on it, left click on properties, you can choose any of the items, roll back, update, or uninstall. Warning, if you do not have another video output this will cause you to not see anything.

Video Card Upgrade Problems

Does this computer have an onboard video card?

If so you will need to disable this feature in the system BIOS.
It should be under onboard devices.
You will need to use the onboard card to enter the system bios and then turn off the onboard card. install the new card and then connect the monitor to it then power on the machine

With ASUS M2N-MX mainboard, ATI Radeon 7000 Series problem.

Your Motherboard has an onboard video chipset made by Nvidia. Nvidia and ATI have a history of not playing nice with each other.

I have 2 possible solutions for you.

1.) Remove the Radeon card and use the Nvidia onboard card (Essentially a Geforce 6100)

2.) Enter the bios (Usually done by hitting <Delete> or <F12> while the computer is booting up) Your Motherboards manual can tell you for certain. Then find the options for onboard video and disable it.

Then boot up the PC, When it say starting Windows press <F8> to bring up the windows boot menu. Select "Start in Safe mode" Once this loads up open the device manager, look under "Display adapters" find the entry for the Nvidia adapter, right click on it and select either "Uninstall" or "Disable this device"

Which you choose depends on your personal preference Whether you like Nvidia or ATI boards better.

If it makes your decision easier a Geforce 6100 is roughly equivalent to a Radeon 8500 in performance.

I hope this helps
Dave

Disable the existing video card in device manager and try again. The onboard video will always try to take first spot, so disable it ...your video will still work until you can install the new video card :)

Hope this helps :)
