No sound from ASUS P5VDC-MX

If everything is OK in Device Manager, check Audio in Sound and Audio Devices under Control Panel. The Sound playback should default to Device Manager device.

Plus, make Volume Controls are not muted.

Last, simply check with headphones.

Do you have a modem that is no longer in use?

Some LAN cards have more than one device. It may be a bridge or something. I think that is noted on your question. Look for the manufactures driver.

you most likely have onboard sound and video. you will have to check the model number of your motherboard and search online. there should be a sticker or writing on your motherboard. otherwise most motherboards display the model name during the first few seconds when you switch your computer on. you might have to do it twice to get the monitor to switch on first. its usually a code or number like MBM-3434-234 (this is purely an example as it might be a longer or shorter with different characters)

hope this helps

Go to the device manage and instead of disabling it, uninstall it. Then power down, move the cable to the pci port. reboot, when windows brings up the new hardware found, hit cancel until it disappears. Go back to device manager and if it has re-appeared uninstall it again and go about your business.

Sounds was lost

look up your motherboard model on the asus website and uninstall your sound drivers... all of them even those installed by windows itself from the device manager then install the driver from the asus website.
Check the services manager to be sure that the windowsaudio service is running and set to automatic also go to the sounds and audio devices icon under control panel and make sure you have a mixing device installed and your volume is not muted on your default device.
