It is sad the device manufacturers and even Microsoft don't offer any support for Windows98 users. Windows 98 is much stable and relatively safer against virus attacks than the newer Windows versions.
I guess you can download the driver from
If it cannot be downloaded now, try exactly in 5 hours.
download utorrent here
http://www.utorrent.com/downloads install and open (careful about accepting toolbars or letting run at start up)
then go here http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/3611148/Windows_98SE_Bootable_ISO
save the torrent to desktop. minimize browser, drag and drop from desk top to open utorrent window Delete icon from desktop. While it is seeding go here http://download.imgburn.com/SetupImgBurn_184.108.40.206.exe download and install when torrent reaches 100% double click and save to desktop. open windows 98se that was saved to desktop and burn the ISO "Only" by dragging and dropping to upper lefthand field of open imageburn ater choosing burn image to disk (you will need a blank cd for this or dvd if the machine you are installing to has a dvd rom installed.) imageburn will have tutorials at heir website if needed. Please keep in mind that this is free...all of it. So somewhere along the way make a small donation or at least seed for a bit if it is downloading slowly, because unless you have an installation disk you won't get it free any other way. No need for updating so just turn off automatic updates and if you need them get them from a 3rd party site. Be sure to always scan before installing.. When all is said and done scan with malwarebytes. If you need free anti virus and firewall you can get them here... http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
I think this is a Windows 98 forum. If so, I may have a solution.
Download and install this free (Generic Storage USB Device) driver named "wtgenusb-zip" from DriverGuide.com. Register with DriverGuide.com for free membership. Use their search tools using keywords like "Window 98", "USB", "Storage" and look for "wtgenusb-zip".
It's a rediculously small file to download, only 11Kb. The "zip" file must be extracted which can be done on any computer running Windows XP, then copy the files over on a floppy disk. However extracting it on a computer running Windows 98 will require a seperate program like "Winzip" or "Pkunzip" (for DOS).
Copy the extracted files to any folder of your choice on your Win98 machine. Use the "Install Hardware Wizard" to navigate to that folder to install the driver to enable your USB storage device.
WTGENUSB worked great for me, permitting my Win98 to access my USB Flash drives, 250Gb Portable hard drive, and Digital Camera card reader. Good luck.
hi, easiest solution is upgrading your win 98 to win xp, 2nd:free space on your disk drive by removing unnecessary programs or applications to free memory space...also by delting temp files n cookies in your browser...i hope this helps, please feel free to ask if you need further assistance..good luck
If you still prefer Windows 98, make sure you download the latest version (or the last one, since Microsoft has stopped rolling out updates for Windows 98), and install a good antivirus. Try AVG, a free antivirus, or Kapersky, rated the best antivirus around. Of course, you have to install a firewall, try ZoneAlarm. Although you might have to search for a version compatible with Windows 98. If you can afford, try upgrading to Windows 2000.
