Trying to connect dell desktop to my Samsung DLP HL-R5064W tv through vga cable to watch movies. Toggle source button on remote to pc, but receive an out of range message. please help

Hi,

"Out of range" message indicates that the output from your computer to display it from your Samsung HLR5064W DLP TV is too large. You need to adjust the screen resolution settings for you TV. I have attached images of display settings dialog boxes from different versions of Windows.

mongkey_46.jpg
You may open the display settings of your computer by clicking on START > CONTROL PANEL > DISPLAY. While your TV is connected, click on IDENTIFY button. You will notice that numbers 1 and 2 will appear briefly on your screens consecutively. As the dialog box shows 2 monitors with numbers 1 and 2, click on the monitor with "2" on it. Then, adjust resolution to 1280 x 720 as this is the highest resolution your TV can handle. You may adjust the TV (monitor #2) to be IDENTICAL or to EXTEND the display of your computer. You can also assign it as the main monitor but not recommended. Click OK then try to toggle your computer's display. You should be able to see a display from your TV this time.

I hope this works for you. Kindly reply for further assistance. Good Luck!

How to connect a play station 3 to tv?

Just plug it like a regular DVD player thru HDMI connection and then choose HDMI AV input from your TV to be able to see the screen. You can also use the TV as a monitor by using the S-Video or the VGA input and then put the audio of the PS3 to your Audio system or amplifier.

How do i hook up my computer to my mitsubshi ws-48413?

Connecting this up will be easy. What you do is get a yourself a set of the right, for your setup, cables. That uses EITHER one of the formats, of these described, below. You will need, either, a THREE way Cable, or three separate " Coaxial Cored" Cables with RCA PLUGS on them. ColoredYellow, (Video) Red, & White. (Audio) AV. OR If you have SCARTConnection Sockets, it's a big Black Socket at rear of unit(s), you get aSCART Cable.& It's all inside. Now some units, use a standard calledComponent Video, that uses, a Green, Red, & Blue Plugs. Now, with the Component setup, you will also ,need, Two more Cables, for the AV Audio. these are, Red & White.(So with Component Video there are 5 Cables/Plugs in all). In any event ALL Cables go Color to Color, at each end, plugging into the corresponding Colored RCA Jacks, on either machine, or VCR or TV. Now if you have SCART, then it simply plugs in only one way. It is that simple. So connect up with the leads your set uses, and select the correct "Input" from TV/Remote, it is NOT on a "Channel" it will be on AV, AUX, and Press "Play" on VCR/DVD whatever.... should be all go. At the rear or side of the PC there should be either or both of a 15 Pin DIN Plug, HDMI socket. or a Yellow RCA or 4 -7 pin DIN. Now IF these are present then YES you can connect to a TV. Now some TV's have a connector a DB15 MALE, so that the cable from the PC to the TV, is DB15. this plugs in directly, with appropriate DB15 cable. This, however, will ONLY take the VIDEO to the TV, Audio is delivered via the "Audio Out" Jack on PC, and Plugged into the AV Sockets on the TV, with a dual cored coaxial cable, they are Red & White. Some PC's also have a Yellow RCA Connector, OR a 4 -7 Pin DIN Socket, that requires a Special Adapter Cable (That generally came with the unit, and are colored and marked as to output) to use, for Video/Audio Out to TV. This signal is Composite or SVHS Video & Stereo Out. This connects up TO the TV's Composite/SVHS input Jacks and the Red & White Audio IN, RCA Jacks, &/or DIN SVHS socket.
First you need to know if your PC can output to a TV. Then you need to get the adapter & cables that connect the PC to the TV. Then you need the correct TV drivers installed for your video card. When they are all installed, you need to "Enable" that Monitors, the TV's, Desktop. You need to set either a "Cloned" display or "Spanned, Extended Desktop". Go to "Display Settings" Now ensure the TV/Monitor connected has the correct input/output display settings. Adjust the screens resolution via the resoloution "Slider", it is best to start with, 800x600 32 bit color. or even lower. and once working OK, THEN increase to max resolution, your TV can handle, find out from manual. Once it is all connected up. It should all just work great. Now, from then on, &, to get it to work every-time, the process is. Turn everything OFF. Connect the leads between PC & TV, Turn the TV, ON. Then, startup the PC up. It should "Detect" that it has TWO "Monitors" ie: One Monitor & One TV/Monitor, & you should see your desktop appear after a bit. Now you have screen 1 & screens 2. Now, if you are using "Cloned" mode, then whatever is displayed on the Master monitor, will be displayed on the TV. If you used Spanned, mode, in this mode, however, you will have to."Drag" the Video window, over to the TV, and it is though, you have one "Big Desktop". Now IF using Nvidia or ATI then BOTH of those have thier OWN, Control Panel, this, all then can make it all a lot easier to do it. So I would suggest that this method be used. But if you get stuck, or just want to do it by hand, then the the "By Hand" method is the only way. There is a great program called MultiMon, this allows great control over dual displays, and is well worth installing.

From there select your TV which will be displayed in the window. You will get the display in your lcd TV. Let me know if it resolved because I also use the same connection at my home.

Hooking up a laptop

You must enable the monitor output. This is a function combination. Look for the key with the diagram of a screen on it. Usually the first pressing turns on the monitor as well as the screen, the second leaves the monitor on and turns off the screen, the third brings it back to standard (screen only).

I am trying to connect my laptop to the Polaroid LCD TV, as i would like to use the TV monitor as a computer monitor (my laptop monitor is broken). So I connect the correct wire to correct places, however...

The simple patch that I found (same problem) was to start by using any old monitor that I could borrow to set up my Dell Laptop.
After getting the Laptop booted on a regular monitor I right clicked on the desktop and went to properties then to the settings tab.
Here I found the dual monitor settings (#2 will usually be dis-abled by default.)
Click on #2 monitor and set the resolution to the lowest number (800 x 600 works well)
Then I clicked on "make this monitor my primary monitor"
As soon as I clicked apply the PC Windows screen appeared on the Polaroid TV screen

Earlier I had set the secondary monitor as "extend this screen to this monitor"
This also worked but I had to "drag the current screen to the right all the way off the
"borrowed monitor" until it appeared on the TV screen. The mouse pointer will be there also.
At first it took a little getting used to but in a few minutes I was up and running.
Hope this helps your situation

Samsung LCD TV not receiving PC signal

Check your vga cable. Some cables have only 14 pins, some have all 15. The missing pin is pin 9, in the 15 pin cable it carries 5v from the graphics card to the screen. Without that 5v signal most LCD and Plasma television screens won't recognise a PC input. I had the same problem and only managed to fix it when my girlfriend swapped a cable over for me and as she did so glanced inside and said "it's got a bit missing" The cable that came with your PC most likely only has 14 ins as that is all a monitor screen needs.
You can buy a 15 pin cable at most PC or electronic shops, just check that isdoes have all 15 pins befiore you buy it. The cheap ones are just as good as the expensive ones unless you are buying 20 foot cable. For 6 foot cable the cheap ones are just as good as the expensive ones.

I am trying to hook my 40 inch flat screen by samsung to my dell computer. i unplugged the cpu monitor and plugged it to my tv and the tv states that the mode is unsupported. What do i do?

Your computer is set to a resolution supported by your dell monitor but not the flat screen tv.

The easiest way to get it working is to turn the computer off, connect the flat panel to the computer and then turn the computer on.

To change the resolution of the flat-panel or monitor, right-click on the desktop, click on properties and then select the settings tab.

play with the screen resolution and find one that works best by trying each one and clicking apply. If you select a resolution not supported by your flat panel, computer will automatically revert to the previous resolution in 15 secs.
