Connect to the router with a cable and access the router adminstration by the Router IP address. If this was setup by a service provider only they will know the User name and password used to access the router directly. If it is out of the box the IP is most likely 192.168.0.254 with admin and the user and administrator as the password exactly as you see them in this post. You can see the Wireless security key under wireless Security settings in this router.

Enter the settings page on the modem and change the Wi-Fi password to something you won't forget, use a daft sentence like 'my cat wears wellingtons' so you will remember it.

Cannot remember my w-f password

If you lose or forget your password, you can usually get it from your modem or your Internet service provider.
  • 1 Look on your modem. This is the box that your Internet service provider gave you when your Internet service was installed. Some Internet Service providers put your wireless password directly on the box along with your user-name. A modem may or may not be separate from a wireless router, which sends out the wireless signals. If you have two boxes and are unsure which is which, look at both.
  • 2 Call your Internet service provider if you cannot find a password on the modem. You can also try online customer service through your service provider's website if you are able to get Internet access apart from your wireless connection.

  • 3 Talk to a customer service representive and ask to retrieve your password. You may be required to change it. Be prepared to provide security information that the service provider has on file, such as your Social Security number, phone number, address or another personal security question.

What number on my modem do i use to access the modem set up to add a device and where do i type the number to access my modem set up thanks Randy

open up a internet explorer window, at the top of the window where the url text box is, delete all text and type 192.168.1.1, the usual user name and password is admin for both, i think these routers give the user and password at the bottem of the modem as long as the factory defaults havent been changed it should allow you access to your router settings, if the number above dosent work try 192.168.2.1. hope this helps

Are you trying to set up the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

Router wont connect to the internet

Two things, first try power cycling the modem and router. Unplug both of them for about 30 seconds then plug the the modem in first let, let it cycle through and then power up the router. If that does not work you might need to reset the router and restore the factory defaults. Let me know how it goes. Thanks

I need to find the procedure for at&t 2wire DSL modem wireless connection. I lost the security code and password. The Serial N# is 140811022206 and another # is (2701HG-B) could be the model number. ...

Try going to http://Helpme.att.net your support site or try calling your Internet provided and asked them to create a new username and password for your wireless connection.

If your asking for the username and password that you set in the modem configuration page more likely you are going to reset it and call your Internet service provider for the default username and password for your 2wire modem configuration page.

I have a zoom modem cant connect to the internet. i need a telephone helpline number as im at work and dont have the details here. the helpline on the box in unobtainable. thanks Lorna

    Hi Lorna,

I hope you could provide the actual error message that you’re getting, model of your zoom modem and, internet provider so I could give a few tips that you could try; however if you prefer it via phone, you can perhaps call your internet provider to check if your settings are correct or for full assistance not just with the modem but with your pc as well (in case it is the one causing the problem) I've heard of a free phone support that you can try although, its available for US customer's only. I think its by "suptrix" or something like that, anyway here is their number 1-877-787-8749 and use the promo code "supportcall", hope this helps.

    Cheers and best regards,
