I play this game on my Gameboy Advance SP (it won't fit into a DS Lite for some reason...) and when I turned it on after a really long time of not playing it, it showed me a New Game and Options options. It did not have the option to Continue to the file that I worked really *******.... I was upset, and didn't know why this happened, so I decided to start a new file. My friend and I saved after we started the file (before we got a pokemon) and when we turned it on again later, the Continue Options was once again not available. Later, I tried again to start a new file, and this time, I was able to save it (I saved twice before turning it off), turn it off, turn it on, and get the Continue Option about 4 or 5 times in a row. I thought it was something weird that fixed itself, but the next weekend when I went to show my friend, the Continue Option was once again no longer there. I'm not sure if it was the Gameboy Advance Sp, the game itself, the file, or maybe the file is still there but the Continue Option isn't working for some reason. The game is maybe 3 to 4 years old. Can someone tell me what's wrong with it and if I can fix it at all?

I have basically the same problem as spiritkitten, except with a GBC. I decided to start playing again after years of not playing, and the Continue button wasn't there. I was like, well, maybe something happened, so I started a new game. The new game said that it saved, but when I turned it on the next day, the Continue option was gone. I also found that the same thing happened with my brother's Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver. Other games work fine, though, like Pokemon Yellow.

I tried blowing into the game cartridge/GBC cartridge, and that didn't work. I probably should like an idiot, but if there's a corrupted data file, then there's nothing that can be done to fix it, right? (I hope I'm wrong...)

    Grr, this is annoying... -_-

If EvoLuTi0n is wrong, it may be a dead battery inside the game.... to replace, just unscrew (may take some needle nose pliers) and i can't remember the voltage, but just go to radioshack and ask if tey can replace it...

Hey Mukim,
Try taking out the Cartridge (The Game) and blowing hard into the bottom part thats open where you click it in. And then blow hard into the GameBoy Colors Cartridge behind the screen (Where you insert the Game). That should do the Trick. If that fails, then you have a corrupted data file. Corruption in files is very common with old video games, and it can be caused by almost anything.

If this helps, please rate this solution as a FixYa. - Evolution

Save file corrupt when started playing my game

Once a file is corrupt it cannot be saved. (I have dealt with numerous Fallout and Skyrim corrupt saves on Ps3 if I could have saved them I would) Assassins creed black flag is known to have some problems with corrupts but i thought that they were patched (check to see if its up to date)

My pokemon gold won't save it says I can but when I turn it back on it says new game again.

there isn't a way to bring back a corrupted Gameboy game save. The reason the save has corrupted is because the small battery in the game had died. Replacing the battery might fix your game, but it won't bring back your save.

My game will save, but when I turn it back on, there is only the "new game" and "options" displayed...I can't continue from where I saved.

Replacing the battery might fix your game, but it won't bring back your save. Well you could use a memory stick for the game boy color and advance and orginal gameboy then instead.

Can someone tell me if this is true: Game sharks will mess up the system that they are used on. And if it isn't true, please tell me where I can get one, I have tried Game Stop and that's where I heard...

Here's the idea behind Game Shark:

Alter the normal play of a video game to give the user an advantage.

That's cool and all, but think of it this way:

Take GoldenEye 007 for N64 for example. Game Shark makes it really fun to play; the only thing is that you'll start wondering in places where you shouldn't be (not intended to get to in the actual gameplay) and the game will start glitching until you're out out of that area. The reason this game sticks out to make this point is that after you accomplish a few missions on normal gameplay and do some tasks, you'll start to unlock certain cheats made for the game; pretty much getting rid of the need for GameShark (which you'd only use for the really hardcore codes). The biggest difference is that when you use gameshark the game doesn't recognize it as a cheat game and assumes your "walk through doors" to be normal.

GTA4 has cell phone cheats that you can enter to get a upper hand, the game knows you're cheating and blocks out all of the trophies as this could lead to a very unfair advantage. The thing is, these cheats were meant for the game.

Case and point: It will mess up your game. If you save your progress using these cheats it could effect your game and ultimately your system. Please don't use any cheats that weren't intended for the game and be careful if you do.

Can't save any games.

Okay, your games don't save on your game boy itself, they actually save on the cartridges. The way it maintains the save is a small battery inside the game. It sounds like the battery is going or is completely dead. You can try to manually replace the battery inside the game, or take it to a Nintendo retailer and see if they can't replace it for you. Hope this helps you out :)

Saving the game data on Professor Layton and the Curious Village

The game should, of course, overwrite existing saves without problem (even if second hand)

You are not prompted to save when you quit (since there really isn't a quit or even a return to menu)

While the game does have a few set save points, the best way to save (which can be done at any time) is to use the Save option in the trunk (some players forget about this)

If you save into a save slot doing this and it's not there when you next restart the game, then something is wrong

It should also be noted that some (if not many) of the "second hand" copies purchased on eBay are actually pirated copies that have caused problems for players (including stopping with blacked out screens during the game)

If you are confident that saving just isn't working and you're unable to return the game for replacement or refund, one drastic course of action may be to corrupt the save (by quickly turning off the DS while it saves), thus causing the game to say the save is corrupted and make a new save file ... naturally, this should only be done as a last resort

Spotlight interferes with the way the program saves.  Open spotlight preferences and click on the privacy tab.  Tell spotlight not to search your save games folder.  then it should work fine.
