How to reset avr5805

n very rare instances, the AVR-5805 internal microprocessor might lock up, or otherwise cause mis-operation. This might be caused due to an AC line surge or line spike noise, or by static electric discharge on or nearby the unit, or to connected components. If the condition cannot be corrected by powering off the unit, including disconnection of the AC cord for a period of ten minutes and subsequent re-connection, then the unit may have to be re-initialized. Doing so will restore the microprocessor to its original out-of-the-box state, with all custom memories and settings erased, and the original factory default settings restored. Only use this procedure if you are sure that the microprocessor requires re-initialization.
1 Switch off the unit using the Main unit's power operation
switch.
2 Hold the following STANDARD button and HOME THX
CINEMA button, and turn the Main unit's power operation
switch on.
3 Check that the entire display is flashing with an interval of
about 1 second, and release your fingers from the 2 buttons
and the microprocessor will be initialized.
NOTES:
If step 3 does not work, start over from step 1.
If the microprocessor has been reset, all the settings are reset
to the default values (the values set upon shipment from the
factory).

Scan says all channels locked out

Please try this,

If the scanner's display locks up or does not work properly after you connect a power source, you might need to reset or initialize it. If you have problems with the scanner, first try to reset it to retain the memory. Warning: Initializing the scanner will clear all channel memories and reverts it the state it was in right out of the box.To Initialize the scanner, turn off the scanner then turn it back on. Press 0 when the welcome screen appears. 'Please select factory tests. Exit if no key is pressed' will briefly appear. Then quickly press 1. 'Initialization clear all memory Enter to confirm Clear to exit' will briefly appear. Quickly press ENT to initialize. 'Initializing, Please stand by' then appears. Do not turn off the scanner while it is initializing. The display should then show M000 on the top line and Bank 0 CH 00 when finished.

Hope that helps!!
Happy Scanning

Channel up and down function does not work on set or remote

All TV sets use a microprocessor for this--both the buttons on the set and the the remote end up at the same place--in most cases the buttons on the set have priority over the remote.

Only a few possible reasons for this:

The most likely and simple one is the set has a lock out feature so channels cannot be changed--owner manual or a call with the model number to (says Vizio here) would resolve that.

While on phone if no lockout exists describe problem and see if its a known issue with this model.

Its hardly likely a problem with the remote as front buttons would still function--

This if no lockout or even a hard reset exists leaves a Microprocessor problem which since not parts but circuit boards are sold--going to have to replace a board

I really think to solving this is is there a lockout or a hard reset that should cure this?

TV will not remember settings Sony Bravia KDL 40S4011

Probably you are in "shop" mode of TV. Try to reset your TV and go through initial setup. Most important - choose "home" instead of "shop" when asked during initial setup. Resetting - keep up arrow pressed and switch of TV. Keep the button pressed when TV automatically switch back on. This will reset TV to factory defaults.

Denon DRA-37 Receiver-Remote lock on. Need to unlock.

Refer to the "Initialization of the Microprocessor" section of the manual (page 16 of the PDF version of the manual).
1) Turn the unit OFF using the On/Off switch (not the standby switch).
2) Depress both the Speaker A and B switches, and turn the Power ON.
3) The entire display should flash at 1-second intervals. The microprocessor should be reset, and the remote should be unlocked.

This should resolve your propblem... taken from the Denon USA FAQ...

You’ll rarely need to "initialize the microprocessor" under normal operating conditions. In a few cases, the microprocessor will temporarily freeze or "lock up" just as your home computer does. When this happens, just follow the guidelines in the back of your owner’s manual to "unlock" the microprocessor and restore normal operation. (This is directly comparable to rebooting your computer. It’s an electronic wake up call to your unit’s temporarily paralyzed microprocessor "brain.")
If you experience some unusual behavior -- a channel that’s suddenly silent, "forgotten" level adjustments, some eccentricities in your unit etc. -- you may need to reset the microprocessor. Of course, you should check all connections carefully first. But if you’ve eliminated these items as a source of potential problems, you may need to go through the initialization process.)
Initialization is easy. Please refer to your owners manual for instruction on reseting the microprocessor as each unit may have its own individual protocal for reset.
What causes these problems? Several things can -- a jolt of static electricity, a current surge through an antenna input, etc. But don’t worry, the microprocessor is well shielded from any permanent effects.
When you do initialize the microprocessor, remember that this erases any setup instructions you may have previously programmed into the unit. However, the on-screen menu will quickly get you through a new setup. And, if you write down your preferred settings BEFORE you reset your unit’s microprocessor, you’ll have an even easier job!
If in the event you do intialize microprocessor reset please refer to your owners manual for instructions on setup..

Wont change channels

First, try resetting the faceplate CPU by shorting the proper pins on the faceplate to radio connector on the back of the faceplate with a piece of wire... They are marked on the connector, if this fixes it for you, enjoy!

If that doesn't work, then remove the back cover of the faceplate and check the faceplate connector itself for bad solder joints. As a matter of fact, check the entire radio for bad solder joints before looking any further.

I bought one of these radios a short time ago; Everything worked except for LSB.

I was told by the radio shop I bought it from that I'd have to wait until June to get it fixed, so I opened it up myself to see if it was something easy to find/fix, since I felt that if it was anything major it wouldn't be able to get AM or USB either.

In my case, I found bad solder joints on the faceplate connectors and a bad solder joint on one of transistors attached to the heatsink.

Once I fixed those two things, it's been a great little radio.

Be sure to reset the faeplate after resoldering and assembling, to clear any errors from the CPU.
