gmca-young, you said "won't stop unless you hold the on button..." Does that turn the whole computer off, or just stops the beeping sound?

This is a hardware warning, Usually memory modules the way to test that is take one of them out at a time if the beeping stops that is the one that is bad you can do this for all of your hardware parts inside. even DVD or CD burners just remove the power from each one of the hardware suspects. Upon doing this you will find the part that has malfunctioned you will need to replace it. John

What causes red led on starting?

Remove Power Cord then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, then put the cord back in and try to start it.

When you press the Power Button are you hearing the fans run, the disk drive running, the cd drive click and the light on it comes on for a second or two?

Anything shows up on the LCD Screen?

If you press the power button and absolutely nothing is happening then you most likely have a bad power supply.

If you press the power button and you start hearing beep sounds or blinking lights in a continuous pattern (ex. 1 long followed by 2 short) then you have a motherboard issue. Those beep sounds and blinking lights tells the technician what is going on with the computer.

When i turn my syncmaster 2233 computer, it turns on but it makes a beeping sound alot of times and it won't stop.. I usually fix it by turning the power cable on and off and it will stop the beeping...

Remove the memory (RAM). Clean its contact points by an eraser. Fix it. If it does not work, try using another slot. If it still does not work, replace it with new.

Sony vaio pcg k 15 notebook beeps on starup

If you hit some keys and then it starts - it indicates a stuck key on the keyboard. Check the keys to make sure they are all fully up and nothing has been spilled on them or gotten stuck under them. Keys can be removed usually by prying gently under the edge and replaced by pressing down firmly. Probably what is happening is the if a program opens and you see a series of 4's is that the "4" key is the one sticking partially and preventing boot up. The beeeep is simply to tell you something is wrong with hardware, ie: keyboard, mouse, memory will all generate a long beep or several short beeps. The owners manual will list beep codes to help you determine where to look to find the problem.

I don't know if I can solve this here. But the beeping noise is your pc trying to tell you what is wrong with it. Somewhere there are pc beep codes. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1223 If these can't help you just put "computer beep codes" into google. Here they are:

HP Pavilion notebook Model No DV2224EA Product No RY395EA. On pressing the start button almost immediately there is a long beep followed by two short beeps. The computer than seems to stop functioning. ...

this doesnt mean that it's the motherboard, you could have other hardware probems that the beeps refer to depending on bios version, sometimes pressing F1 continues the boot, if so then the time and date should be checked, if wrong, then it's a cmos battery replacement thats needed, this beep can refer to also the graphics or the memory, so if you are able to locate the memory bay, remove and reseat the memory and try again
